Iboga Records
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Iboga Records is a Danish psychedelic trance record label which was born in mid 90s when DJ Amon, DJ Banel and DJ Emok decided that it was time for a new unique Scandinavian progressive trance sound. Iboga is mostly known for its minimal psytrance style. Prior to the inception of the label, the DJs were all part of an organization called "Rotundum" which was responsible for organizing events in the Copenhagen area. Around that time Banel, Amon, Emok and Jeppe started buying out equipment, and they started an Iboga studio.

[edit] History
The name Iboga is taken from the Central African shrub Tabernanthe iboga, which contains the potent psychoactive compound ibogaine. For a long time a Danish company was the world's foremost supplied of Iboga extract.
In 1997, more ideas came into play, and the label started to shape up. During that time, the Copenhagen sound was developing into a new style - scandinavian trance. Iboga played a significant role in the development of scandinavian sound.
In 1998, the label released its first compilation, "Tabernanthe". From there, the company grew rapidly, building a strong following with a good reputation. Despite hardships, Iboga has still managed to consistently release various compilations and individual LP releases.
While the company was hit hard from the spread of pirated music over the Internet, it hopes to continue to deliver music to its target audience. Iboga artists continue to release records and tour the world, performing at parties and summer festivals.
