IBM System Cluster 1350

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The IBM System Cluster 1350 is a Linux cluster solution for High-performance computing composed primarily of IBM System x, IBM BladeCenter and some IBM System p and IBM System Storage components integrated with network switches from vendors such as Cisco and Force10 and optional high-performance InfiniBand or Myrinet interconnects. The project was previously known as the IBM eServer 1350 or e1350.

In November 2001, IBM introduced the eServer cluster 1300 (or e1300) based on then-current Pentium III products. In October 2002 this was replaced with the introduction of Pentium 4 based Intel Xeon products with the e1350.

Operating system choices are officially limited to Enterprise Linux distributions from Red Hat and SUSE, and Cluster Systems Management (CSM) software from IBM. Additional software (examples: GPFS and LoadLeveler) can also be ordered, although open source alternatives may be available.
