Ibaa Ismail is an Arab American poet of Syrian origin, born in Aleppo, Syria in 1962.

In 1984 she participated in a festival for young writers and poets sponsored by the students union at Tishreen University. She graduated from Tishreen University, with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. During 1985-1986 she participated in festivals for young writers and poets sponsored by the Arab Writers Union in Syria. She moved the United States in 1986.
She did her graduate studies in English and American Literature at EMU.
In 1999 she published her first collection of poems, named Horses of Light and Alienation (published by the Syrian Ministry of Culture).
In 2001 she published her second collection of poems, Songs of the Soul (published by Arab Writers Union Press).
She was a member of the board of trustees of the Arab American Literary Association between 1997-2002. And she headed of the Literature and Culture Committee.
She is also the editor-in-chief of Pages, the cultural and literary magazine published in Arabic and English.
