The IAR-822 was an agricultural aircraft built in Romania in the 1960s. Based on the IAR-821, it was a conventional low-wing monoplane with fixed, tailwheel undercarriage and differed from its predecessor mainly in the choice of a horizontally-opposed engine in place of a radial. A small series of 20 aircraft was produced between 1968 and 1972. Also like the IAR-821, the design was used as the basis for a trainer, this time designated IAR-822B. This proved more successful, with 10 examples built from 1972 to 1974.

An all-metal version of the IAR-822 was also built, designated the IAR-826.
