[edit] Kulin, Western Australia (move)

Hi, Ian. I just moved the page Kulin, to Kulin, Western Australia as you requested. But really, moving pages is very simple on Wikipedia, so there's nothing to really fear in the future. :) Click on the move tab at the top of the page, and you will see a field where you can type the name you want the article to move to. Then there's a box below that for a justification. In the case of Kulin,, I wrote "requested move; naming conventions". The only time moves get tricky is if the destination page already exists as more than a redirect or has a long edit history. Let me know if you need any more help. —BrianSmithson 18:55, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

I just realized what you meant when you said you were "too new" to move the page. I didn't realized Wikipedia had a policy of restricting page moves to users with 25 edits or more. I originally read your comments to mean that you were just a bit too unsure of the software to try the move yourself. Sorry for the misunderstanding! You'll have 25 edits in no time if you haven't got them already. --BrianSmithson 15:10, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] ScottDavis' Plain Town Names

Hi Ian, welcome aboard. I'm glad to see someone else using Scott's excellent resource. I've been working on Victorian towns lately, though I tend to use List of postcodes in Victoria, Australia, and the Vicroads Country Street Directory. --Cnwb 05:41, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks Cnwb, I hadn't thought about the street directory. Now the List of Western Australian towns has been expanded with a processed post code list I am hoping some of the red links there will be removed by finding incorrectly named towns on Scott's list. [edit] Re: Block on 202.72.148.102

Hi Owen, thanks for undoing that block. I am working with Westnet to have Wikipedia removed from their transparent proxy so hopefully this problem will go away. It is rather anoying that blocking an IP address also prevents logged in users as well. This seems like a shortcoming that should be able to be resolved technically. You could probably direct me to where I should bring it up? Thanks IanBailey (talk) 04:34, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Oh, this subject has been brought up many times before. I mentioned it myself in September. The official place to report such bugs or request software improvements is on Bugzilla. I do hope we get this bug fixed soon! Owen× 04:44, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] New article

I've created another new article on a Kimberley town - (and this time it's not that obscure!), at Wyndham, Western Australia. I was honestly shocked that noone had created the article before me, as it's such an important town. Do you know where we could get a photo of the place? The sites in the external links seem to prohibit redistribution of their images.

I'll probably continue writing about the Kimberleys for now, simply because there's so much that hasn't been covered yet in wikipedia. I'm a perfectionist though, so I work quite slowly on these articles. Regards, Graham/pianoman87 talk 13:28, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi Graham, I'm surprised myself how time consuming it is to do good edits. Well done on Wyndham - I agree it is a surprising ommision. I don't have any contacts up that way for photos sorry. Cheers IanBailey (talk) 01:32, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
