Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Hilbre (yacht) article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

  • Please note that minor re-phrasing of the sentences from the original website is not enough; such a derivative work is still protected by the original copyright. You have to write the article from the scratch, using your own words. (However, you can use the website as a reference; facts themselves are not protected by copyright.) If you wrote the material on the website yourself, you can naturally submit it to Wikipedia; in that case you should post a notice on the website that you allow the material to be used under the terms of the GFDL license, or e-mail the Wikimedia Foundation (permissions-en[at]wikimedia.org). [edit] Copyright issues

Hello there Ian, I saw the article here with interest as I'm a keen sailor and of course know of the Hilbre. Howeber it seems you have just copied the text from here once again, after the warnings above. I will try and rewrite the text but you simply can't repeat mistakes like this after clear warnings above. Don't be surprised if this article is deleted before I can rewrite it!
