[edit] Template:User United Kingdom/usagepoll
- The top formatting however was not intone with the vote - which had 4 distinct proposals
I would like to suggest that there were actualy only two proposals in the this poll.
- The First option was to change the text to lives in.
- The Second option was to keep the text the same saying comes from.
The only difference is that there were 3 different options for those who wanted to keep the text the same, thus splitting the results.
- Keep the text = 19 votes + my vote
- Leave the category as is = 0 votes
- Remove the category = 8 votes
- Change the category = 11 votes
- Change the text = 19 votes
Like I said before "People go by what the text in the userbox says not its category!" -- UKPhoenix79 01:45, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- As I said in my vote count, when you remove the duplicates in keep the text (some people voted for both), and count the other, the other still wins. If you however have any evidence to suggest the vote was swung in some way, please feel free to put it forth. Ian13/talk 07:34, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Old Skool Esperanzial note
Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Elections
Thank you for nominating yourself for the Esperanza elections, unfortunately I think we are closed for nominations and now open for voting. We would love for you to re-nominate yourself for the next elections (June-ish I think) but remember that they start early in the month, with voting towards the end. Hopefully you'll come and show your support for the candidates and cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 16:03, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Whoops! I didn't realise that. I just notced an elections notice on my talk page a few minates ago. Thanks for letting me know. Ian13/talk 16:05, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

- AHHHH! It seems after some confusion I have been allowed to stand. Probably to late, what with one user having 45 supports, but I shall stand all the same. :P Ian13/talk 19:16, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Well my 9 votes aren't exactly a shining start. I'm doing really good for only being here 4 months. Good luck, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 20:15, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiSupreme Court
Hi there Ian13, just wondered why you nominated WikiSupreme Court for deletion. Isn't the usual process to reject good faith proposals rather than delete them? (Although, obviously, I think the proposal is a bad idea.) ConDemTalk 00:56, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
- True. But yet I feel it gives the wrong impression of Wikipedia, and to be fair, there are a fair few delete votes so I am not alone. MfD is open to any page - and really its more of a BJAODN article than proposal. I am following policy through my nomination - and in my opinion, Wikipedia is more common sence than a set of rock solid rules. Hope this helps! Ian13/talk 16:10, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello Ian, just thought I would let you know that I was leaving Wikipedia, but before I left, I finally got a picture of thyself onto Wikipedia. [edit] Please don't.
Please realize there was another way to speak to me rather than slapping npa on my page. I don't like being warned for something I know full well. I've been trying to get other wikipedians to stop attacking me for a day now.
If you don't know the story and are confused, asking won't hurt and I would be happy to explain (I have on my talk). Kindly remove your warning. I was speaking factually (evidence is on my talk) not subjectively.— nathanrdotcom (Got something to say? Say it.) 22:11, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- If you chose not to remove your warning, it would be helpful if you could explain why on nathanrdotcom's talkpage so that he can most effectively utilize your constructive criticism (if you have time of course, knowing that you have exams and all. BTW, good luck!). Where (talk) 23:38, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- I will and thanks. I have put a warning there, because I feel the attacks made were unacceptable, and that he could have expressed his opinions in a more constructive manner. Since the user even expresses they know it what they did - then why did they do it? I put a warning there, and should the user continue making personal attacks, then a block would be the next stage. It should be noted I did provide an explaination with the warning at the time. Ian13/talk 08:43, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have revoked my warning, however I will add it again if I feel he is continuing to be disruptive. See his talk page for my full reply... Ian13/talk 08:55, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Blindly adding warnings without making any effort to discuss the situation and try to solve it without the use of warnings is something I find insulting. I've replied to Ian13's comments in archive6 (yes I archived it, sorry, it was not done to hide my comments but the talk page got to 50 topics) and one on my talk. I feel that you are not making any effort to understand the situation therefore this cannot be resolved. It will be explained on my talk whether I have to do it or someone else has to (edit: it has been explained on my talk), but I feel pasting the logs explained it in well enough detail - I was attacked by multiple parties with no provocation - civility was not the first thing on my mind, I was upset, maybe try taking that into account, hmm?
- I have revoked my warning, however I will add it again if I feel he is continuing to be disruptive. See his talk page for my full reply... Ian13/talk 08:55, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

- If I'm someone so liked and respected (from what I hear), you could've handled the situation in another way (by discussion). You did not. — nathanrdotcom (Got something to say? Say it.) 18:33, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

- I did not blindly warn you in anyway. I provided evidence for my concerns and explained what I felt was wrong. If you have something constructive to say to me, I am more than welcome to hear it and act on it. You say I have not acted by discussion, but from what I can see, since my comment discussion has been higher than ever. You in my opinion were making personal attacks (or at least acting uncivil), over an off-Wiki (IRC) matter. I feel I am doing all possible to help this - but all I have had is a bunch of comments aimed at me and my actions, and not really over how the situation can be resolved. I am trying to me nice here - and from what I see you are throwing it back at me and attempting to start (another) dispute. Should you wish for a review over how I have handled this, please feel free to comment over at WP:RfC, as I feel this is hardly the place. Ian13/talk 19:25, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] VandalProof 1.2 Now Available
After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:31, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

- wolf will be unable to make any positive comments if he is blocked forever. i suggest unblocking him and keeping a close eye on him for a week to see if he deserves to remain. Then check that after a week he has done no wrong....and after that time we (the wikipedia community) can accept him and his return. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.253.131 (talk • contribs)

As I said, could you please try and be abit more constructive when addressing issues. Ian13/talk 16:29, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Shield Of Civility And The Sword Of Truth
Are these appropriate for use in the crusade against vandalsim, abuse and disruption or is the imagery to strong? Cicero Dog 15:09, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- In my view I would consider it a bit too strong. I think it is better to see it as reforming people, and keeping Wikipedia nice, rather than some sort of attack. Ian13/talk 15:12, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. I appreciate the name change. "Community Justice" sounded too judicial. It sounded like it would entail Wiki-judges, Wiki-prosecutors, and Wiki-police. Concord sounds more like what you are after, in the sense of peace and harmony. Peace. :) Dlohcierekim
