I have carefully looked at the notability criteria and edited to make the language more neutral and more consistent with the criteria. Ian McDermott is a recognised authority in the field of NLP and his books are amongst the most widely read on the subject.

Further improvements that I would like to make (or solicit others to make):

• published or broadcast references to his work and that of ITS
• data on the extent of readership - as my above statement "the most widely read" is based on how often peers mention them, it would be nice to be more objective!
• include the publication information for the books listed

If I do this, I believe that this article stands and is a useful contribution to those wanting to understand NLP and who is eminent in this field.
