Ian Prendergast (born September 2, 1980) is an Australian rules footballer currently playing in the South Australian National Football League.
He was recruited as the number 58 draft pick in the 1998 AFL Draft from the Kerang Rovers. He was elevated to the Carlton Football Club Senior list in 2001 and made his debut in Round 17, 2001 against Hawthorn.
Ian has been a constant selection mystery for Carlton. He shows occasional glimpses of good form which quickly drops off, making him a very frustrating player to watch. His match against the Brisbane Lions in Round 8, 2004 could be considered his best game for the club.
"Gast" played only three games for Carlton in 2006, but spent most of the year as one of the Northern Bullants' best players. A knee injury against Port Melbourne in round 15 sidelined him for six weeks, before he played in the VFL finals for the Bullants. He was delisted by Carlton at the end of 2006, and was picked up by the South Adelaide Panthers in 2007.
