Ian Mitchell (musician)

Ian Kevin David Mitchell (born August 22, 1958, at home, 27 Ardmeen Green, Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland) is an Irish-born guitarist who is best known as a former member of the Scottish pop group Bay City Rollers.

Mitchell joined the Rollers on April 1, 1976 at age 17 as a replacement for co-founder Alan Longmuir. Ian's tenure in the group was brief; he remained in the band for just 7 months, leaving November 10, 1976. However, he did participate in the band's reunions in the 1980s. His guitar and vocal work are heard on the Rollers' hit 1976 album Dedication and the 1985 release Breakout.

He has also performed with the groups Young City Stars, Rosetta Stone, La Rox and The Ian Mitchell Band.

Ian Mitchell became a naturalized citizen of the United States on March 25, 2005. Currently, Mitchell owns an entertainment company in Orange County, California with his wife, Wendy-Ann Antanaitis, and performs regularly. He and his band tour with "The Original Idols Live!" show which is hosted by Barry (Greg Brady) Williams and includes the surviving members of the Cowsills, Leif Garrett and Bo Donaldson & the Heywoods, among others.

Mitchell uses the name Bay City Rollers (featuring Ian Mitchell); however, Ian is the only former Bay City Roller in his group. The line-up includes Craig Else (former member of the South African band Petit Cheval), Joe Stefanelli, and lead singer Kyle Vincent.
