Ian Kerner, Ph.D., FAACS, is an American sex counsellor and author.

[edit] Motivation
Called "The Sex-Doctor to Generations X & Y," Kerner's journey to counseling professionally grew out of his own personal battle with sexual dysfunction and his desire to help others.

Kerner is the author of She Comes First: the Thinking Man's Guide to Pleasuring a Woman, which was selected by both Amazon.com and Borders as a "Best of 2004" non-fiction title and has been translated into numerous languages around the world. The companion book He Comes Next: the Thinking Woman's Guide to Pleasuring a Man was published in 2005. Kerner also wrote the New York Times bestseller Be Honest, You're Not That Into Him Either, and (as of late 2005) the soon to be released D.S.I. Date Scene Investigation: the Diagnostic Manual of Dating Disorders.
All of his works have been published by ReganBooks, an imprint of Harper Collins. Ian also contributed a chapter on how to have a satisfying sex life for the Experts Guide to Life at Home (Random House).

With so many relationships often disintegrating within the first five years of marriage or cohabitation, Ian frequently works with young couples in their twenties and thirties to address issues that are common to the "American bedroom" but nonetheless lead to lives of quiet desperation.

Ian has appeared frequently on The Today Show as well as Good Morning America, CNN's Anderson Cooper 360°, Headline News and Paula Zahn Now, Dateline NBC, the CBS Early Show, FOX News, MSNBC, The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch and Strictly Sex with Dr. Drew amongst others. He recently co-hosted a television series for the Discovery Health Channel entitled "Love On The Rocks", and also appeared as a guest life-coach on NBC's Starting Over.

Kerner contributes regularly to Cosmopolitan Magazine, as well as penning its online sex-advice column and hosting a weekly call-in show on Cosmo Radio for the Sirius Satellite Radio. Additionally, Ian has been read in the pages of Men's Health, O Magazine, Redbook, Maxim and the New York Times to name a few, and he has been heard on Howard Stern, the Laura Berman Show and the Wendy Williams Experience.

In addition to meeting regularly with patients, Kerner lectures nationally on a variety of subjects related to sex and relationships. Recent appearances have included: The Organization of Women Leaders at Princeton University, human sexuality classes at Indiana University, the W Hotel's Wonderland Series, the 92nd Street Y in New York City, and Sex Week at Yale University.
Ian is certified to counsel patients by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists ("AASECT") and is a Diplomate in Sex Therapy of the American Board of Sexology. He is also a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health and The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality ("SSIS").
Kerner is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brandeis University, and also holds advanced degrees from New York University and the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists. He is a former Thomas J. Watson Fellow and a recipient of the Erwin J. Haberle Award in Clinical Sexology.
Ian Kerner was born and raised in New York City where he resides with his wife, Lisa Rubisch, a commercial and music-video director, their sons, Owen & Beckett, and a Jack Russell Terrier named Houdini.
