Ian James Brackley

Ian James Brackley has been the Anglican Bishop of Dorking[1] since 1996.[2] Born on 13 December 1947, he was educated at Westcliff High School[3] and Keble College, Oxford[4] before embarking on a clerical career. Ordained in 1972 he began his clerical career with a curacy at St Mary Magdalene, Lockleaze.[5] From 1977 until 1980 he was Chaplain at Bryanston School then Vicar of East Preston and finally Rural Dean of Cuckfield before his elevation to the Episcopate. A keen golfer[6] Brackley opposes intolerance within the Anglican Communion[7].
