Ian Ivarson (born July 1981) is an American entrepreneur who founded the Ivar Backpack Company and was the inventor of the Ivar System Shelf Design technology.

In 1998, Ivarson was a high school student at Marin Catholic High School, in Marin County, CA, when he developed the Ivar System and later patented the shelf design in the United States. International patents are pending. The Ivar System patent and concept encompasses sewn-in angled shelves (internal) designed to evenly distribute weight and create better organization.

Following college at the University of Denver, Ivarson formed Ivarson USA LLC in April 2002 as a manufacturing and distribution vehicle for the Ivar branded backpacks and other packs based on the Ivar System technology.

According to sources, Ian Ivarson graduated in business finance and marketing in 2004 from the University of Denver. Ivarson is a long time swimmer and was a member of the Denver Pioneers NCAA Division 1 swim team from 2001 to 2003.
