Ian Hughes (born 2 August 1974 in Bangor, Gwynedd) is a professional footballer currently playing for Bacup Borough in the North West Counties Football League Division One, where he plays as a defender.

Hughes played in central defence for Bury from 1991 to 1997 making 160 appearances. In 1997 he moved to Blackpool, who he captained and for whom he also played 160 games. In 2003 he moved to Huddersfield Town.
