Ian Harvie is an American transgendered female-to-male stand-up comedian.
[edit] Early life
Harvie grew up on Beaver Pond in rural mountain town, Bridgton, Maine until the age of 12. His family moved to Topsham, Maine where he graduated from Mount Ararat High School. He went to Lasell Jr. College in Auburndale, Massachusetts and did not return after his freshman year.
[edit] Comedy career
Harvie began his stand-up comedy career in February of 2002 in Portland, Maine at The Comedy Connection comedy club. Three months later he began performing at sister club, The Comedy Connection in Boston, Massachusetts.
Harvie moved to Los Angeles, California in June 2006. By November 2006 Harvie he began touring with iconic comedienne Margaret Cho as her opening act. Cho cast Harvie as a permanent member of her off-Broadway burlesque comedy revue: Margaret Cho's: The Sensuous Woman.
In August 2007, Harvie began producing and hosting his own self-titled, comedy/talk show: The Ian Harvie Show at Los Angeles music and comedy club, Largo. Previous guests of The Ian Harvie Show include: Jeffrey Sebelia, Margaret Cho, Jane Lynch, Jenny Shimizu, Buck Angel, Alan Cumming, Jorja Fox, Kimberly Pierce, Garrison Starr, Sabrina Matthews, Erin Foley, Kirsten Holly Smith, Matt Alber, Gregory Douglass, and Poppy Champlin.
Harvie performs in comedy clubs and theaters around the country. In 2007 Harvie appeared on MTV's Logo as part of Outlaugh Festival on Wisecrack.
