Chris Corner

IAMX (I am X) is the solo musical project of Chris Corner. Corner has repeatedly said that IAMX is very different from his actual, real-life personality and is a kind of quasi "act". Whether an act or not, IAMX's music is primarily concerned with subjects such as outlandish sex, death, narcotic intoxication, bisexuality, decadence, obsession, alienation and vague allusions to politics. Corner currently lives in Berlin where he has found "the spirit to care less about the music industry and take an independent route." [1]

[edit] Albums

Consisting of highly dark, erotic, 1980s-influenced electro, the debut album Kiss + Swallow was released in 2004.

IAMX' second album, The Alternative was released in April 2006 in Europe, October 2007 (digitally) in the UK + Ireland, November 2007 (physically) in the UK + Ireland and will be released in June 2008 on Metropolis Records in the US. A live album and a string quartet EP are also scheduled for release. Chris Corner is currently working on the third proper IAMX album, which should be expected in Autumn 2008. [2]

[edit] Live line-up

Corner's rolling live line-up has included Sue Denim and Dee Plume from Robots in Disguise, James Cook from Nemo, comedy writer and performer Julia Davis and both halves of The Mighty Boosh, Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt. From 2006-present, the live band consists of Dean Rosenzweig on guitar, Janine Gebauer on keyboards/synths/bass, and Tom Marsh on drums.

During his live performances, Corner wears notably bizarre outfits and makeup, showing an especial fondness for top hats, dark eye makeup, black lipstick, black spangles or dots on his cheeks, ruffs, and braces. The band is EMO-decadence group.
