Iakovos Kambanelis or Kampanellis (born 1922) is a Greek poet, playwright, lyricist, and novelist.[1] Born December 2, 1922 in Hora in the island of Naxos, Kambanelis is currently one of the most popular Greek artists living in Athens. A survivor of the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp, he authored a Mauthausen cantata[1] with music by Mikis Theodorakis[2]. He also authored at least 12 films, two of which he directed himself. In addition, he is known as a song author. He is also a member of the board of Morfotiko Idryma Ethnikis Trapezis cultural society, along with some of the most prominent Greek artists[3].

He also wrote several 'scenario on cinematographic films including:

He also written a book known as Münchhausen where he spent from 1943 until May 5, 1945, shortly before the end.
He also translated works and acted in Austria, Bulgaria, England, Germany, Hungary, Romania and Sweden.
He was educated as a journalist in newspapers Eleftheria (1963-65), Anendotos (1965-66) and since 1975 (Nea). He was a member of the Greek Theatrical Writers' Company.
