Should this article be moved to a better name? Right now it's I_Marine_Expeditionary_Force. Shouldn't it either be I_MEF or 1st_Marine_Expeditionary_Force? Also, I just added the intro line to show its affiliation with USMC. I got the term "Headquarters Element" from a Marine friend of mine. I'm not sure of it's validity. Also, *if* it's accurate, someone should make a stub for it, so us non marines can see exactly how the I-MEF fits into the bigger picture of the corps. --Pseudorandom 00:50, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

I wouldn't use the term "Headquarters Element" to describe the I MEF, that would be inaccurate. I would say it's "a division-sized MAGTF unit of the USMC" (see United States Marine Corps#Organization). I think "1st Marine Expeditionary Force" is the best title. That's what is on the I MEF official web site. It is common to pronounce I MEF as "eye mef", "first mef", or "one mef". I will make some edits now. --Kenyon 03:16, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pardon?

Here's a different twist/possible complaint. As someone who has no knowledge of the US Marines, other than passing media exposure, it doesn't tell me what it is, other than a redlink to MAGTF. I can infer from the name, and the "Recent Service" section, but it never says in the article what 1Mef is. A decription of role or purpose might be nice. - Vedexent 15:31, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
