[edit] Plot synopsis
After reading an article criticizing him in the Seattle Times, Frasier responds by taking umbrage at the writing style of the author, Derek Mann (Joe Mantegna), on his show. Mann responds in turn by calling in and publicly challenging Frasier to a fist fight outside the Cafe Nervosa the next day.
Despite agreeing to the fight, Frasier has no intention of going through with the fight, but Martin reminds him of Billy Kreizel, whom Frasier was meant to fight in high school (before chickening out and claiming he had a clarinet lesson). This is enough to persuade Frasier, and he goes out to fight Derek, before the police arrive to break up the large crowd that has gathered. At the end, it is revealed that Martin had called the police earlier in order to save Frasier, when Martin thanks the officer at the fight for not letting his son get hurt.
