[edit] Cover art method

"To achieve the effect, W. K. struck himself several times in the face with a doorknob during the photo shoot, then added pig's blood to produce a satisfactory amount of blood."

-Does anyone have a reference for this? And is this what the artist/label has told us was done to achieve the cover photo, or what some objective third party reported? To play the skeptic, he's either a great shot with a doorknob and doesn't bruise easily - or this isn't what was done. It also sounds little too "metal cliche" to be accurate, IMHO. Either way, a citation would be nice.

Actually, I've read a conflicting piece in an issue of Spin (can't remember which but it was an issue put out roughly at the same time of the album) where it was stated that he smashed himself in the face with a brick and when he couldn't get the requisite amount of bloodflow that he was going for, he ended up utilising an outside substitute.

Also, I think it might be pertinent to mention that the cover of the album was concealed in the US as well, obscured by a black bar/sticker that didn't reveal the lower half of his face until the outer wrapper was removed. 75.2.26.73 21:44, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

-I've mostly heard the doorknob story, never this brick one. And it can't be removed simply because it sounds "too metal cliche" IYHO. Wikipedia isn't for opinions. Pig blood sounds a bit...weird and I don't know why they'd have pig blood readily available at a photoshoot (though I guess you never know these days...) I've mostly heard it was corn syrup and red food coloring (as it says on the Andrew W.K WIkipedia Article anyway.) Either way, this should either get a citation or be changed. But we already know that.

-If he hit himself with this alleged 'doorknob', where? his nose doesn't look broken, and his lips, while unnaturally large, don't seem like they've come in contact with a doorknob. Also, he looks alot like a girl.

-I remember reading an interview with him in Kerrang! around the time saying that he used blood from a butcher's shop, I don't remember anything about hitting himself in the face with a doorknob, I think a citation is definitely in order for this. 86.129.0.45 11:10, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
