"I Go to Extremes" is the fourth track on Billy Joel's 1989 album, Storm Front. It was released as a single in 1990. Joel wrote the song after his drummer Liberty De Vitto suggested that he write a song with the strong background drumming that he had been practicing. The song is very popular amongst Billy Joel fans and remains a crowd favourite at his concerts when the fans await the song's special ending. The song reached the top ten in the US at #6 and reached #70 on the UK Singles Chart.
