[edit] states vs "länder"
I stand corrected. You are correct that Wikipedia refers to the Länder of German as "states". As someone who lives between both cultures, I prefer to make distinctions about things such as this particular issue. I also disagree with translating Gymnasium and Abitur as High School, and High School Diploma. They're fundamentally different concepts and mean quite different things. However, in the case of "länder" vs "states" the difference is very minor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Puellanivis (talk • contribs) 10:51, January 2, 2008
[edit] mission statement
"My mission on Wikipedia is to make this encyclopedia not look like it was written by a bunch of random people on the Internet." - this the nature of wikipedia and this is how wikipedia grows. it's like you're cleaning up a construction site because you dont want it to look so messy -- but in the process you impose your own prudishness and interfere with progress.
This link might better re-state the above: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Editing_policy#Perfection_is_not_required http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Editing_policy#Preserve_information —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.197.135.188 (talk) 02:17, January 6, 2008
[edit] Please see my comments on the Asian Pride page before reverting citations.
I think this subject is pretty narrow, so info is fairly limited. When there are no non-commercial websites that have the info that needs to be cited, shouldn't we cite whatever is available (if it seems to be legit).
So far, nobody has disputed the Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Mandarin Romanization, Cantonese Romanization, Korean Hangul and Korean Hanja translations. The disputed ones (As I have watched this page for a while) were from other sources, or original content from whomever edited the page (speaking of the Japanese Romaji, Japanese Katakana and Vietnamese disasters that were added).
I think the page is poorly-written and much of the content is incoherent. It seems that is what should really be tackled before refining the translation citations.
Please at least replace the current citations/links to http://www.orientaloutpost.com/asian_pride.php to some website or other source that seems more appropriate.
I might be biased to that website because they helped me avoid a terrible Asian symbol tattoo mistake that I was about to make, with no charge. But I also looked elsewhere and nothing else seemed as legit.

[edit] Vandal?
I stand most offended by your shameful statements on my intentions with the editing on wikipedia. I can assure that what you are saying is wrong, I am a man of seriousness and good reputation. I do not wish for you to throw acquisitions on me without the slightest evidence (nor reason), such a behaviour is undemoratic and not in accordance with good western civilized spirit. [edit] Spiritualistic template
Hi.
I noticed you altered and removed a template I placed on a couple of articles.
On what references would you base your consider that there was no connection between the various spiritualistic traditions?
Thank you. --Lucyintheskywithdada (talk) 22:24, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I was quite surprised to see the spirit(ual)ism template, it struck me as if someone had added {{Circlels}} to Switzerland. I'd be interested to know your reasoning behind the connection and what reliable sources you can produce to back it up. Thanks. :-) - ∅ (∅), 02:48, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- I agree with removing the spiritualism and spiritism category form the bottom but have replaced an updated infobox at the top. --Lucyintheskywithdada (talk) 12:51, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Spiritualistic practises
If you note, it has been changed to spiritualistic practises which is quite accurate.
If you want the references and citations for such uses, check my edits.
If you have the references and citations which contradict that such practises are spiritualistic, please provide them.
I think you are confusing Spiritualism, the religious movement of the 1840s to 1920s, with spiritualism and spiritualistic which have quite different meanings in academia these days.
Again, it is all there in the citations. Thanks. --Lucyintheskywithdada (talk) 12:49, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- If your template is to go on every spirituality-related page, it's way too inclusive and should be deleted. I've added a note to this effect on the TfD page. - ∅ (∅), 13:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
OK. I tried to be polite ...
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Template:Spiritualism_small. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Please pay attention to the detail. I agree, it should not go on every Spirituality page. It should only go on spiritualistic topics, which is what I have paid attention to. You do not appear to realize the considerable difference and are offering no citation to counter --Lucyintheskywithdada (talk) 13:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- WP:DTTR. If there's a burden of proof, it's on you. - ∅ (∅), 16:50, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Umbanda
Look, if you take an example like Umbanda on the top line it has;
"Umbanda is a religion that blends Catholicism, Kardecist Spiritualism, and Afro-Brazilian religions."
So please tell me how it has no relationship with the infobox and why it should be removed?
What is your understanding of animism?
Thank you. --Lucyintheskywithdada (talk) 12:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- A religion or religious practice that merely incorporates beliefs or practices from Spiritism is not itself Spiritism. It does have a relationship with the "infobox", but only a secondary one. - ∅ (∅), 13:13, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- I am afraid that it hardly and answer and without any references or citations, it is just POV. I have gone to great length to provide citations in my edits. A simple google will back me up. So what point are you really trying to make?
-
- The infobox is not promoting spiritism nor stating so, it connects spiritualistic topics that are obviously connected. It is the purpose of the wiki to inform and broaden people's knowledge.
