"I Don't Need No Doctor" is a hit song by Ray Charles in 1966. It has been much covered standard over the years by bands such as Humble Pie (this version was an FM radio hit, peaking at #73 on the Billboard charts) in 1971 and metal band W.A.S.P. in 1986.
Upon the suggestion of jazz guitarist John Scofield, John Mayer began to perform a cover version of the song on his summer 2007 tour and following this, performed the song for his 1st Annual Holiday Charity Revue concert on December 8, 2007, with this performance later being included on Mayer's DVD Where the Light Is.
