I Corps is a military field formation of the Indian Army, created since independence in 1947. It has been active since at least the 1971 war against Pakistan, where it took part in the Battle of Basantar.

During 1971 at least one source (the NDU one below) cites the corps composition as:

Today it is a 'Strike Corps' within the Indian Army's Central Command, headquartered at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. Central Command itself has its headquarters at Lucknow.
