I is a one-song-EP by the Swedish metal band, Meshuggah. The song runs for 21 minutes and is the only song on its own EP.
Meshuggah followed up I with Catch Thirty-Three which is also a single song (this time clocking in at over 45 minutes) but separated into 13 different tracks.
The song can be split into three definite sections, each representing a different style of Meshuggah's past playing.[citation needed] The use of breakdowns separates the song into heavier and less heavy parts. By using this method the song can change style very often.
[edit] EP notes
Both the cover and disc artwork refers to the title "I." The cover features an "eye" and on the disc itself the word "aj" is printed, which is also pronounced the same way in Swedish as it would be in English and means "Ouch!". The "facial" structures around the eye are all made from multiple bent, shaped, mirrored and resized copies of a face.
