[edit] Music video
Directed by Wayne Isham, the music video for "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" became yet another to retire on MTV's TRL. It won an award in Japan for Best International Music Video.
There are two versions of the video for this track. One is the album version which features Spears mostly atop a large mountain and inside Antelope Canyon. The other is the movie version, which, because the single was meant to help promote Britney's film Crossroads, not only includes some scenes from the album version but also several scenes from the movie. Other scenes include Spears in a gown singing in a re-creation of one of the rooms in Crossroads, one where she is sitting near a campfire and another where she is driving the car featured in the film.
MADtv parodied the song in a fake music video called "I'm Not a Child (It's OK to Nail Me)". Spears was played by Jill Michelle Meleán, and the video mocked what MADtv believed to be her rather promiscuous and overly sexual behavior. R. Kelly was credited as the fake director of the video.
[edit] Chart performance
Though "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" was meant to help promote Crossroads, the single flopped and it failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100; it did, however, appear on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart at a peak of number two, which would be equivalent to number 102 if the Hot 100 ran past one-hundred ranks. At Top 40 radio, the single peaked at the bottom end of the Top 40 Tracks, Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Contemporary.
The song received a mixed response internationally; in some countries, such as the UK and Australia it was hit, peaking at number two and number five, respectively. However, in other regions like Canada and Brazil, it failed to break into the top ten in either country.
"I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" was a success in the UK just missing the top spot selling 125,000 copies. The single has sold worldwide 2 million copies.[1]

Emily Nakanda performed the song on series 4 of The X Factor
Singer Tori Amos references this song in her 2002 b-side "Tombigbee," singing that "if you're 'Not Yet a Woman,' you've got no business playin' at this." Amos would later go on record as one of Spears' biggest celebrity sympathizers, but still performs the song in concert regularly.
