"I'm Gonna Be Alright" (Track Masters Remix) is the second single from Jennifer Lopez's third album, J to tha L-O!: The Remixes. Released in 2002, the single features rapper Nas and is a double A-side along with "Alive". It peaked at number ten in the U.S., becoming Lopez's sixth top ten single; it also peaked at number three in the UK.
"I'm Gonna Be Alright" originally first appeared on the 2001 album J. Lo. The Track Masters Remix later appeared on the album J to tha L-O!: The Remixes. The original Track Masters Remix featured (at that time new rapper) 50 Cent. The original remix is obtainable through the remix album. At that time of the single release Jennifer Lopez chose rapper Nas for the radio version. Nas re-recorded new rap verses and the track was cut down to 2:56 and became the Track Masters Remix Radio Edit. The remix featuring Nas was later made available on the U.S. commercial CD single release of "I'm Gonna Be Alright"/"Alive". Nas' version also later appeared on the European edition of her 2002 album This Is Me... Then.
The beat contains re-adaptions of the instrumental used on Luniz' 1995 "I Got 5 on It", a song which itself sampled Club Nouveau's 1987 "Why You Treat Me So Bad".

[edit] Controversy
Controversy over the radio version verse the album version sparked tension between (then) friends 50 Cent and Nas. Jennifer Lopez and Epic Records decided that it would be better to have Nas for the radio version due to his current popularity on the music charts. This however apparently upset rapper 50 Cent causing him to feel betrayed by Nas. At the time of the single release 50 Cent was still an upcoming and pretty much unknown artists in mainstream music. According to rumors, 50 Cent holds no hard feelings towards Jennifer Lopez, but towards Nas. According to Lopez’s management, the switch was purely business. 50 Cent’s version appears on all editions (domestic and international copies) of her remix album. Nas’s version appears on the European release of This Is Me... Then. Commercial CD singles were issued of the song containing Nas' version.
[edit] Music Video
The music video for the song featured rapper Nas and it was taped in New York. The video was directed by Dave Meyers and shows a hot, summer day in New York trough scenes of Lopez doing laundry, sunbathing, listening to music in a music store and playing baseball on the streets. The video is also Jennifer's second video with her (then) husband Cris Judd.
