- Okay. But the IP Address is wrong. Mine is the one shown here according to my computer. I can even upload an image of it - the IP guesses on Wikis are not accurate. HyperSonicBoom 00:38, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Aircana320.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Aircana320.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:05, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
db-repost warning
A tag has been placed on Template:User Windows XP, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article is a repost of either already posted material, or of material that was previously deleted in a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Template:User Windows XP is different from all other articles, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}}, and also put a note on Talk:Template:User Windows XP saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we ask you to follow these instructions. -/- Warren 12:50, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Saab
Hi. I've reverted your change. As I have explained on the talk page, the corporate name is Saab AB, where AB stands for Aktiebolag. You seem to be suggesting from your edit summary that I think the name is Saabab. Mark83 00:55, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- No. I do not think the name is "Saabab". But that isn't the point. It is "Saab", not "SAAB", "SAAB AB", "SAABAB", "Saabab", or "Saab AB". And I didn't even look at the talk page. I only look at talk pages if I absolutely have to. The logo even says "Saab" (and "Saab Technologies"), not "Saab AB".
- End of discussion. HyperSonicBoom 01:04, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Your comment on my talk page
Please read www.saabgroup.com/en/AboutSaab/TheSaabBrand/the_saab_brand.htm. I don't want or expect an apology for your error (we all make mistakes), but an apology for your intransigence and abrupt attitude would be most welcome. Many thanks Mark83 20:45, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, sorry. Your original position was that the company was not called Saab AB. It clearly is! I have told you what AB stands for and the article clearly explains what it stands for. Yoo obviously have selectively read the link, the first line says "When Saab AB, which originally was an acronym for "Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget"...." That couldn't be clearer. Mark83 20:57, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I'd be happy to continue this conversation further, but I'm just going to have to repeat what I've been saying. It's very clear, while Saab used to be an acronym it isn't any longer. You obviously seem to know better than the company itself so perhaps contacting them would be the best route, maybe they can explain things to you better than I seem to be able to. Regards Mark83 21:12, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- ...........I have to continue dealing with this, eh? This template would look good in my userboxes after the two blocks I got as an IP, the people I had to deal with as an IP, and this. HyperSonicBoom 21:17, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- I hope that's just a quip - this would be a really silly reason for leaving Wikipedia. I have tried my very best to explain my position, perhaps an outside opinion would resolve this to your satisfaction. Let me know if you'd like me to do that. Regards Mark83 21:21, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Fair Use image removal
I have removed the fair use image you used in the userbox at User:HyperSonicBoom/Userboxes/Shop/WinVistaWant. Fair use images cannot be used outside article namespace, and using them in userboxes is especially wrong. Please read the fair use policy for restrictions on using fair use images on Wikipedia. Thank you. --MECU≈talk 19:39, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Uh, I've got a problem with you giving my this "warning." First, you added "Please do not edit pages that belong to other users.".... no one owns any pages; even under your userpage, see WP:USER. Also, I'm quite an established editor, so "welcoming" and "warning" me isn't very appropriate. Lastly, my edit was both explained in the edit summary, and right here, so warning me was not very nice, especially since I was enforcing a very clear policy on Wikipedia, that fair use images are not allowed to be used in userboxes, templates, or otherwise outside articlespace. Please read the policies. --MECU≈talk 01:29, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Policies or not, users shouldn't edit other users' user pages/subpages. Please do not edit mine. HyperSonicBoom 01:34, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Plus, that was a fair-use photo. WP:USER clearly states that you can use fair-use photos. HyperSonicBoom 01:36, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Users typically don't edit other user's pages, but in this case, since you were violating policy, it's completely acceptable. Also, could you point out exactaly where WP:USER states you can use fair use photos? If anything, it should state the exact opposite. --MECU≈talk 01:38, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- It clearly says here that non-free images can't be used. That means fair/free-use images are okay. HyperSonicBoom 01:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm afraid you have misunderstood. "Fair use" images are non-free. Any image that has a copyright on it is non-free. You've got it backwards I'm afraid. --MECU≈talk 01:42, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- No. The image would have a tag saying "Please replace this image with a free use image" (or something like that). That image isn't tagged like that, and "fair-use" does mean "free-use". HyperSonicBoom 01:45, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with Mecu actually. You see, fair use images mean that you can use them in encyclopedia articles that correlate to the image. However they're not meant for personal use (unfair use, if you will). Free images can be used by anyone, anywhere. I'm tryign to get what the problem you're havign is really.--Wizardman 01:53, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- They're right, fair-use is non-free. Free images are images created by Wikipedians. The Vista logo was created by Microsoft, not a Wikipedian and thus, it is non-free.++aviper2k7++ 02:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I repeat: THE IMAGE WOULD HAVE A "Please replace this image with a free use image" IF IT WAS NON FREE!!! HyperSonicBoom 02:05, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- How do I make it clear to you people?! HyperSonicBoom 02:07, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Fair use is a United States legal doctrine that allows for the use of copyrighted images for curtain purposes, in the case of Wikipedia this is most often is "For critical commentary". Your user page is not critical commentary, so it can not use a fair use images. Free use image can be used as they have no law restricting their use. Other editors *are* allowed to edit your user page, more so if your page is breaking policy. In this is case you were not just break policy you were making Wikipedia break the law, which is more than grounds for removing it. BJTalk 02:06, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- End of discussion. Stop editing my userboxes! HyperSonicBoom 02:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

About the userboxes
Please stop removing images from my userboxes. If you do, I consider it vandalism of others' user pages.
Do not reply here, as this is a notice. HyperSonicBoom 23:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Hello
It appears you've gotten into some controversy over your userboxes. Please remember that since this is an encyclopedia, it's not worth getting into all that trouble over nothing. I see you've edited articles in the past; please continue improving articles! If you can demonstrate you're a responsible editor, people may be able to let go of your past and maybe you'll be able to become an administrator in the future. How about it? —Signed, your friendly neighborhood MessedRocker. 18:34, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Sigh
Okay, look. The point is that, for legal reasons, certain images are not allowed to be used on userpages - only in articles. That means, not in userboxes either. It's a matter of covering our collective ass; nothing personal, we just can't risk getting in trouble for falsely labeling an image as free. Okay? DS 19:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Interesting concept! Incidentally, you might be interested in the Counter-Vandalism Unit which has similar goals. —Signed, your friendly neighborhood MessedRocker. 01:10, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
RfA
Hi, I noticed that you seem to be considering running for adminship. You have about 350 edits, about a third of which are to userspace. Most succesful admin candidates have at least 2000 edits or so to non-userspace areas. While it is conceivable that someone with 350 edits could become an admin, it is unlikely that you would be succesful at this time. JoshuaZ 01:43, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia Army
Hello. I am considering joining your "Wikipedia Army". However, I would like an answer to a question first.
In you RfA, you accused the people that voted against you (me included in them) of vandalism. How is this vandalism? I would like to have a satisfactory answer before I join a group that focuses on fighting vandalism. You may respond here or on my talk page.
I salute you!

I wasn't actually accusing you. I was accusing other Wikipedians. You may join. HyperSonicBoom 23:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

I salute you.

Your RfA
You've been at WP for a few months, and I just wanted to say "welcome." I recently went through an RfA (which failed) and it can be disenheartening. But, keep up the good work, keep your nose clean, and try again in 9 months or so. Dont be too discouraged, those RfA's can be brutal! Good luck and if you need help or have questions, don't hesitate to ask! - grubber

Last time I'm going to say it...SAAB AB would mean "Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolag Aktiebolag. SAAB would mean Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolag.
- I'm sorry to be rude but you are obviously just trying to be annoying and/or disruptive. SAAB is no longer an acronym. [1] The fact that you are arguing with me is unremarkable, but the fact that you are arguing against what SAAB itself says is incredible. You are wrong. Mark83 12:50, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Wizardman
You're a vandal. Although you you're an administrator, you don't act like it. You are supposed to "keep Wikipedia clean", not vandalize someone's user page when it belongs to them and not you and cause more trouble.

Since you are the first member, I am handing The Wikipedia Army down to you and you are free to move the page to your user page, edit the userboxes, or do whatever you want with it.

Please use edit summaries
Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Yahel Guhan 04:18, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I did, because I'm reverting vandalism, so please READ my edit summaries. HyperSonicBoom 04:20, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Your RfA
Hi. I am afraid that there is no possibility of your RfA succeeding. I suggest that you withdraw it before my suggestion of WP:SNOW is taken up, and perhaps find someone who is willing to mentor you before your next application. Also, please remember that all who are opposing you now are doing so with your interests as well as Wikipedia's at heart. Thanks. LessHeard vanU 20:28, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Warning
[2] Please stop the personal attacks and incivility, or you may get blocked again. Calm down and try to engage in a polite conversation. Personal attacks create a hostile environment on the wiki and interfere with the way things work here. Melsaran (talk) 20:52, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Your RfA
Why did you close my RFA? I didn't violate WP:SNOW as in your edit summary and I'm really starting to get mad at you plus everyone in my RFA. HyperSonicBoom 20:56, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- Your RfA was closed because it was clear it would not have passed. Your behaviour was also disgraceful on that RfA and you're very close to being blocked for incivility at the moment. I would strongly urge you to take a break and come back when you're less annoyed if you're starting to get mad at individual users. Nick 21:00, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- I want to encourage you not to leave the project simply because of a failed RFA. Many good editors have failed at RFA's and it's not something to be discouraged about. You should familiarize yourself with wikipedia policies and guidelines, spend some more time article writing and fighting vandalism, etc. Then perhaps apply again in a few months. You shouldn't insult other users who are simply trying to be helpful, it is never a good idea. Leave a note on my talk if you have any questions or request any advice. Wikidudeman (talk) 22:11, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's absolutely true, I withdrew my first RfA as I didn't think it would pass. Failing an RfA, having it withdrawn or whatever is really nothing to be concerned about. Nick 22:16, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- I was blocked 3 times as an IP and once as a registered user for nothing I did. Then, they kick me out of the RFA, and then again in 8 months, when I was told I can run again in 8 months, but you literally don't appreciate the good things I do. Doesn't that sound like a good reason to leave? HyperSonicBoom 00:43, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
No one kicked you out of the RFA. It was shut down because it had absolutely no chance of succeeding. You were also insulting other editors and were not assuming good faith. If you want to leave then that's your option, however I'm simply saying that you should give it some time to think about it and then perhaps read up on wikipedia policies and procedures. Perhaps in a few months, after you have apologized to all of the editors you have insulted at the RFA, after you have a few dozen reports to AIV, after you have a few thousand edits, after you've helped bring a few articles up to at least GA status, then perhaps you should run for RFA again. Here are my suggestions for you: Read the following (bold is most important):

Some frank advice
Look kid, I noticed you predicament here, and I'm going to take some time out of my day to try and help you. You didn't make it in your RFA because you haven't read enough. If you really want to get into Wikipedia, you need to read. A lot. Let me give you a list to get you started.
- Wikipedia:Requests for Adminship: You haven't read many RfAs. It's obvious because you thought that your RfA had a chance of getting through, even though you have less than a thousand edits (and about 1/4 of your edits are to your own user page). I'm not going to tell you what RfA participants expect, you're just going to have to read some old RfAs and figure it out for yourself.
- Wikipedia:User page: You're still talking about how Wizardman vandalized "your" user page. You need to read and absorb this policy.
- WP:SNOW: You keep saying "I didn't do WP:SNOW". That doesn't make any sense. Read WP:SNOW, and you'll see both why your RfA was closed early, and how it's impossible for you to "do" it.
If you want to be here, you have to teach yourself the way things work. Nobody's going to teach you: it's an all-volunteer project. You need to read policy pages yourself, and understand them. If you want to be an admin, you have to read about what people expect from you. It's that simple. If you don't feel like reading, go do something else; Wikipedia's not for you.
You're a young kid, so take this to heart: if you drop everything and walk away every time things don't go the way you want them to, you're never going to get anywhere. 68.174.64.167 03:32, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'd like to add to that. I know you got discouraged when your RFA failed, but I've failed two now and I'm still chugging away. The IP above me said that nobody would teach you, but my talk page is always there if you have a question. I'd like to recommend that you look over this list of policies, as it will give you a better handle on how things work around here. I hope you don't give up and leave Wikipedia, we can always use valuable contributors. Anyway, good luck in your future endeavors. Useight 15:52, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Screw you all; I told you. I worked my butt off daily, and I get no appreciation whatsoever. Blocked 3 times as an IP for absolutely nothing, and blocked once on my account for reverting vandalism, and that shouldn't have been done. Would you like it if you worked your butt off 24/7 with no appreciation? Of course not, and that's exactly what you're all doing to me - disappreciation. There's no reason to be here. HyperSonicBoom 01:52, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

- Although you may not actually reply to this, there is a chance that you are reading it. If you ever return, you'll have to consider that you are one in a great number of editors, and that you did not make enough edits. With less than 700 total edits, there was no way for you to succeed in your RfA. You should not have been discouraged, nor should you be rude. Then, someday, people will begin to notice that you made lots of great edits, and you will get appreciation. --Astroview120mm 21:19, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

- Excuse me? I have been making good edits and you should see my IP's mainspace edits - I made many, and those should be counted to my account, and my month of reverting vandalism should've made my RFA succeed. I wasn't discouraged, I'm just highly disappointed with everyone at this screwy website - or mostly everyone in the world, for that matter - who don't come to appreciate good things that people do. If this mental place has everyone here brainwashed into not appreciating good things, then this place should be abandoned, I don't care what anyone says, this place is made of arses and always will be. - Your attitude violates WP:CIVIL and will not be tolerated. We at Wikipedia are not babies that you can just insult. This is an important factor that contributed to your loss. Also, Wikipedia isn't just for becoming an admin. There could be several million or even more users, but only a few thousand are actually administrators. You shouldn't campaign either, like you did on "Vote for me in the RfA!"here Read this if you must
- Finally, please don't quit. take a Wikibreak and try to cool down. --Astroview120mm 04:28, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
