[edit] Reduction
Since this article was essentially a big pile of unnecessary information and POV commentary, I've reduced it to its base components with the hope that someone will reconstruct it in a satisfactory manner. — Prizm □ ■ 01:21, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
- To whomever reverted this article: I have once again removed the unnecessary text. Previously, the article was little more than a grammatically incorrect, overly authoritative interpretation of the song's lyrics. Such work does not belong on Wikipedia. If, despite this fact, you choose to restore it, I will not remove it again; such behavior would constitute an edit war. Do with the article what you will. Thank you. — Prizm □ ■ 21:19, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Meaning
The text about the meaning is one interpretation, and a pretty close minded one at that. System of a Down, a band who protests many things and exercises their freedom of speech, would never protest against a protest against a heavily censored Communist government. The idea that the Tiananmen Square protests were for publicity is ludicrous. Where would the publicity be? Hong Kong? Taiwan? South Korea? It's obvious they wouldn't protest for TV when they know the PRC would censor it to the ground, as they did. The song is probably more about the Chinese government reaction. - I reworded that paragraph. Also, a link to another site giving that interpretation, as well as to the interviews referred to, would be useful. --Army1987 15:37, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
The 'meaning' paragraph is really hard to read and 'flip-flops'. Try to reword it again please- I am unable to as I have no idea what here is right or wrong.
The lyrics "Why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square / Was fashion the reason why they were there?" may refer to the Goddess of Democracy statue that was created by art students during the Tiananmen Square protests. kingius
I've always taken this as a critcism of the airhead branch of modern youths, ie: contrasting the Tiananmen Square protestors literally dying for freedom, while over here in North America we have high-schoolers whose whole lives revolve the latest fasions and fads and fitting in, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.110.227.32 (talk) 21:10, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Possibly not neutral?
Is it just me, or does this article seem slightly biased? The Eastern instruments being described as "truly a wonder to hear", for example? 81.76.33.150 20:27, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have removed the sections which I believe were POV. bob rulz 01:49, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hypnotizesingle.jpg
Image:Hypnotizesingle.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:30, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
