[edit] Style and inspiration
In Hypnotica, he uses 1980s styles as well as his electronic music background. This mixture helped the album to become one of the most popular works in the industry in 2003. Many successful singles were released from the album, such as "Satisfaction", "No Matter What You Do", "Love Is Gonna Save Us" and "I Love My Sex".
[edit] Reception
The record was highly acclaimed by some of the most popular DJ's:
- Timo Maas - 'I have it, crazy fuckin record....crowds love it!!"
- Carl Cox - "Pure energy I love it!"
- Boy George – "Dirty Electro house at it best"
- Darren Emerson – "Norman Cook called about this record and as soon as I heard it I loved it!!"
- Roger Sanchez – "Loved his mix of Tomcraft, his record is even better."
- Paul Oakenfold - "Benny has his own unique sound that works on dance floors across the world."
[edit] Hits
A success story alone, "Satisfaction" was the first single off the album. The first video clip shot for the song reached to a cult status because the video clip consists of a single take in which Benassi and The Biz, replicating the Hypnotica album cover, turn in slow-motion to face the camera with a smile. The first clip didn't get much attention so Benny Benassi decided to prepare another video clip for "Satisfaction". This time, an erotic theme was used. They used female dancers to perform on a stage that looks like a construction site where the dancers are shown as workers. The new clip helped the song reach the peak position on dance music charts.
"Satisfaction" was also featured in a commercial produced by the fast food chain Wendy's in late 2005.
After the success of "Satisfaction", Benassi released other hit singles from this album such as "Love Is Gonna Save Us" and "No Matter What You Do", with its simple repeating background. "I Love My Sex" was a successful single in Europe.
"Satisfaction" and "Able to Love" both went top 5 in the Official European Dance Chart.
