Hymns of the 49th Parallel is the ninth studio album by k.d. lang, released in 2004 (see 2004 in music). It is an album of songs by Lang's favourite Canadian songwriters, and includes one song by Lang and David Piltch. The title refers to the symbolic location of Canada (Western Canada lies north of the 49th, while Central and Eastern Canada is essentially bisected by that latitude.) According to the CRIA the album has sold 100,000 copies and reached platinum status in Canada. In Australia the album reached double platinum status according to ARIA, selling over 140,000 copies.
