The Hyers Sisters were the first African-American musical-comedy opera team. They joined the Hyers Sisters Comic Opera Co in the late 19th century. They were also known as "Hyers Sisters of California". The Hyers Sisters consisted of Anna Madah Hyers and Emma Louise. They also starred in the historic theatrical play, "Out of Bondage." The sisters began performing in concerts in their teenager years and singing at parties in San Francisco, USA. They later moved to New York to perform.
