From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hybrid Spider Monkey, Ateles belzebuth hybridu, species of spider monkey, is a type of monkey originally from South America. They are in the Atelidae family and the Ateles genus.
Physical Characteristics:< as a fifth limb. They travel in forest trees, extending their limbs out similar to spiders and hanging onto tree limbs with their string-pulling tails. They eat fruits along with nuts, seeds, leaves, insects and eggs. Their colors range from a light to dark, brownish color on the upper body, limbs and head. The reason for the variation of colors is that there are two different subspecies that are present (Ateles hybridus and Ateles hybridus bruneus). The abdomen is usually lighter and the eyes are either a light brown or a very light blue color. They are an endangered species who has 4 protected areas in venezuela and colombia.
