Hyakuri Airfield (百里飛行場 Hyakuri Hikōjō?) or Hyakuri Air Base is a Japan Air Self-Defense Force air base in the city of Omitama, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. As of 2007, construction of facilities for joint use for civil aviation is in progress. Upon completion it will be known as Ibaraki Airport, with service to the cities of Naha, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Sapporo with its opening in 2009. This will slightly help relieve Narita International Airport and Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport) from overload, as it is closer (and potentially cheaper) than Narita and Fukushima Airport for approximately two million people who will be able to bypass Tokyo air traffic.

The Imperial Japanese Navy developed this airfield in 1937. Planning for the Air Self-Defense Force base began in 1956, and the base was established in 1966. In 2000, an organization was established for joint civilian use, and construction of a passenger terminal started in 2005.

In addition, this airport facility is ready to support Low-cost carriers. The airport has a departure lobby and an arrival lobby on the same floor, and the boarding bridge does not set it up and will board it with the gangway. The airport has a structure that allows a plane to make a U-turn. Airlines can hold down airport use charges by using this structure.[3]

Malaysian Air Asia X has already examined the service from Kuala Lumpur in earnest.[4][5]
Civilian air operations are projected to begin in March, 2010.
