HYACKs is the name of the high school ministry of College Church in Wheaton, Illinois. "HYACKs" stands for "High School Youth Advancing Christ's Kingdom", and is led by Pastor Jonathan Cummings.[1] HYACKs is known for their many missions projects, including a week-long service project in nearby Chicago, and World Impact, their world missions program. World Impact involves trips to many places including Spain, the Dominican Republic, the Czech Republic, and Mexico.[2] Hyacks typically sends out World Impact trips every two years to several different places, usually overseas, each lasting approximately two weeks. In addition, Chicago Impact, a missions trip to Chicago, lasts one week and is sent out every year. Students raise funding themselves for these trips, and in the process they learn about what people operating ministries in foreign nations go through in order to make ends meet. Both World Impact and Chicago Impact trips are led by adults who work with the youth group. Each trip is intended to give students a taste of world missions, as well as providing an opportunity to see need in other parts of the world. Additionally, each trip tries to render some useful service to the teams on site. For example, teams going to the Dominican Republic have in the past operated Bible camps for local children from local slums while constructing housing for orphaned children.
HYACKs has many ministry teams, including a disability ministry team, hospitality ministry team, and student ministry team. For more information on these and others, visit HYACKs Ministry Teams.
