Hwajeon (pronounced [hwaʨʌn], literally "flower cake") is a sweet small pancake or tteok made of glutinous rice flour,[1] sugar, jujube, and edible flower petals (such as azalea, rose, chrysanthemum, and others) in Korean cuisine. It was commonly eaten at hwajeon nori, a traditional custom of the Joseon period in which women go on a picnic near a stream on Samjinnal, every March 3 in the lunar calendar.
