Huw Marchbank
Huw Marchbank is a artist who recently relocated to Northamptonshire from his hometown of Portsmouth. He has only recently started art but has sold several pieces of his work to members of the local population. One of his projects include that of guitar decoration, with his distinct and well known art.
He became an influential member of the Northamptonshire art scene in the winter of 2007, with his unique snow sculpted phallus.
He is able to do commissions and has a website, Huw's Art Shack, that shows numerous pieces of art including the distinct guitar art, that it has come to be known as.
He found his influence in the art of Picasso, the cubists and also aborigional art from Australia. These influences are evident within his art projects.
He is also becoming renowned for his recreational, or rather, celebrational smoking of cigars (according to folklore) and his hatred of radians.
Music (specifically Miles Davies' 'Bitches Brew' and free jazz) is a major influence in his art. Marchbank stated "Its (jazz's) whole randomness reminds me of the craziness of life at times and the fact that everything which happens is either planned ahead or utterly random, I just want to show this randomness to others so they can clearly see this."
More recently Marchbank has been working upon his album under the pseudonym 'A Closet Claustrophobe', set for release in early spring 2008, with a series of singles to be released prior to this 'A Closet Claustrophobe'. Aspects of minimalism, experimentalism and pyschedelica are strongly apparent through the dense soundscapes of the claustrophobes first composition 'Ophiussa'. A remix album by 'kev' will follow the release of the LP. Ever so recently he has taken up ambience music and and this music will most likely form the back bone of his upcoming album.
When Huw is not partaking in making music or producing art; He likes to do sudoku and he has an interest in global warming. He states that it is due to a natural cycle not due to anthroprogenic sources. Despite his views upon global warming, Marchbank is extremely fond of road cycling rather than driving.
