Blood Brothers (comics)

You protected the above page in July due to an edit war. There's no real consensus on the talk page regarding which version is preferred, but the page can't go on being protected. There are underlying issues with some of the parties involved and I think at some point this is going to have to be resolved through something more than protecting pages each time a bout of warring breaks out. Anyway, just wanted to pick your brains on whether to unprotect, last time I unprotected a page I hadn't protected, I got treated to a long rant on the ills of my behaviour, hence me coming here. :) Hiding Talk 14:42, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Arbitration

Hi, thanks for the response and the un-protecting. I decided to open a request for arbitration, since this situation has been festering a while, and since you've protected two pages involved in the request, I thought I'd give you a heads up. The request is at Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#Comic_book_characters. I'd appreciate your input in the request as an uninvolved admin, if you can find the time, Appreciated, Hiding Talk 09:45, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

full protection of the article Albus Dumbledore.

Hi Husond,

I would like you to reconsider your full protection of the article Albus Dumbledore. This article has been subject to minor edit warring by just a few editors. I believe a better course of action is to warn these editors to behave, and if they don’t, block them from editing the article. The bad behaviour lies with the editors, not with the article. Full page protection is inconsistent with the cleanup request.

Hello

Hello Husond! (You've been away for awhile...) You may want to take a look at this, as you have a stake in this. I hope all is well with you, and I presume you know about Riana's mostly-retirement. Love, Neranei (talk) 02:44, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, Husond. I should have given you some background on the situation. The problem this time was not about diacritics but Gene's uncivility towards other editors. Two sides of the same coin, the way I see it. Regards, Asteriontalk 21:42, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree with you. I'd never even heard of Equatorial Guinea till someone arbitrarily put it up there. I highly doubt that a sizable percentage of the population speaks Portuguese. Only countries should be mentioned like you said. learnportuguese 21:44, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Random Blog

Gkmx 02:52, 5 November 2007 (UTC)My intent was not to vandalise. I was removing material that is designed to mis-inform and is politically motivated. Thank you for the input. Gkmx 19:39, 5 November 2007 (UTC) Usually, the name of a city, region, state, etc. is listed on the basis of the name currently used by the people inhabiting the location. If you were to include the Turkish name for Montenegro or the Latin name for Skopje, I would have no objection. However, this type of historical validation does not exist for applying the Albanian names for the aforementioned places. It seems as though you feel that a ~5% minority language/population is a large enough proportion for validating the application of the minority language's name to the place. Then why do you not apply this same logic to the Vienna article. The Bosniak/Croatian/Serbian population of Vienna comes out to roughly 5%. Why then is only the German name placed immediately next to the commonly accepted English name? If you want to have the Albanian name readily available, I suggest creating a link (as in the Vienna article) to a list of the name in other languages. In assuming good faith, I will still be correcting your errors and "unintentional" vandalisms. And you are welcome.

Gkmx 19:45, 5 November 2007 (UTC)My apologies after checking the Vienna article, ~8% is cited. Seriously, how do you feel about adding "Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian: Beč" to the names at the top of the article?

24.250.188.67 04:18, 7 November 2007 (UTC)I really would like to hear why you don't apply your reasoning to the Vienna article.

Please log in when contacting other users. Vienna has nothing to do with this case: Montenegro is a country where Albanian is recognized as a minority language within its territory, Vienna has German as the only recognized language regardless of the immigrant communities living there. Speaking of Austria, see Burgenland, where you'll find a mention to the Croatian name Gradišće right in the beginning. Húsönd 04:38, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

24.250.188.67 15:41, 7 November 2007 (UTC)I do not have an account to log in with. Its been generally accepted that the languages portion of the new MNE constitution is trash - we're not recognizing the fact that "Montenegrin" is the national language. Why then should we recognize the other language aspects of that constitution? By not recognizing the whole language part of the MNE constitution, we can disregard Albanian as having any significant status. Thereby leaving only the Serbian name. I have read the Burgenland article at an earlier point in time. I would not oppose the Albaian name used for the towns/cities around Lake Skadar where they form a plurality. However, using the Albanian name for MNE at the beginning of the article is inappropriate. If you truly wanted to make Wikipedia a better source of info you would have a "list of names of Montenegro in other languages link" and go from there. But, this is not the case. Your actions are of purely political-motivation.

Husond has many motivations, some of which are exemplary, and a number of which are doubtless less-than-stellar (laziness, apathy, desire to acquire a sizable harem, etc.). However, I strongly doubt that his motivation in this matter is political. If nothing else, he has very little at stake, whereas you consistently use first-person plural (we, us) when describing the situation. Orthogonally, allow me to clarify that you are, of course, welcome to contribute without ever registering an account, but to also humbly request a small change in your behavior by means of pointing out that typical WikiEtiquette is to sign the end of your statements, not the beginning. Hi Husond. Is it really your intention not to answer question 9? I have to say I'm a little taken aback - it feels a bit like asking an RfA candidate in what circumstances they would protect a page and being told "I don't have any firm opinion on that, I'll form it later once I have some page protection experience". Frankly, I think all the information you might need to answer my question is out there and I can't see how your performing a few uncontroversial renames will make you better able to decide how more complex ones should be dealt with. Please reconsider your response. WjBscribe 09:00, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
I must say I agree with WJB that answering that question would probably be the right thing to do. Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:05, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

For the revert, and for blocking that user. :) For your information, that user was an IP sock of another IP who keeps harassing a user called Chris Chittleborough (see the history of his talk page, it's a mess), and I. Re: Template:User contrib

Re your message: I fixed it, so now you have the white/crimson/black/gold userbox (I did have to purge your user page to see the change). =) I also changed all of the font colors to match up the docs. The operation of the "switch" command is a little unusual if you're not familiar with how it works. It "falls through", so if you have this code:

|40000=FF00FF
|45000
|50000
|55000
|60000
|65000
|70000
|75000
|80000
|85000
|90000
|95000=EE82EE

...and give it 45000, it finds the 45000 key and then keeps going until it finds a value to use, in this case EE82EE. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:53, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Judith Giuliani RFPP

Hi Husond - I see you declined my request for semiprotection on Judith Giuliani because you don't think there's been enough vandalism to warrant it. Well, here's the problem: what appears to be one person, editing from Oviedo, Florida according to RDNS IP2 location, but coming in on changing IP addresses - 68.210.57.158 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), 74.230.121.99 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), 74.230.126.9 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), 74.230.127.15 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), 74.230.123.116 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) and I may have missed one or two - has made the same invalid edit at least 10 times in the last week. I would be happy if you would put a range block on this range of IPs, but my experience has been that you folks don't like to do that because of potential collateral damage. Vandalism warnings are a waste of time because the vandal comes in on ever-changing IPs, and likely doesn't even see them. Edit summary requests that he stop have been ignored. So the only thing I can see doing is semiprotecting the article, and maybe he'll get bored and go away - or create an id that can be blocked. The solution of just leaving it for editors to revert puts an unfair burden on those of us here who are trying to edit constructively - why do we have to waste our time reverting the same vandal over and over and over? By all means, range block if you will, but if not, please reconsider and institute semiprotection. Thank you. Tvoz |talk 05:39, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks - let's hope he develops another hobby. I'll keep you posted. Best wishes Tvoz |talk 06:09, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Linkfarm-removal

It's OK; linkfarm removing is almost universally a matter of "dropping the bomb" on egregious linkpaddies without being able to scrutinize every one of them. I had a suspicion that some of the higher up links were infact legitimate, but wouldn've been able to tell. 68.39.174.238 18:31, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the Thai Wikipedia Logo, it actually did brighten up my day, somehow. ;) Cheers mate. · AndonicO Talk 20:40, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for alerting me about the vandalization. Some people gained access to my account without my knowledge. I'll make sure to change my password because of this. Thanks again. KumfyKittyKlub 00:51, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

ArbCom elections

Hi Husond. I appreciate your opinion on my nomination. I am sorry that i couldn't answer all questions due to me being a bit busy lately (setting up my own business which is almost done). Also, some of the questions needed more scrutiny in order for me to answer them quickly. Could you please read my recent answers or wait until i answer all of them? Thanks. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 15:22, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello FayssalF and thank you for contacting me. I have read your new answers and I'm quite satisfied with them. In fact, one of them is precisely the kind of answer I have been waiting. I have changed to support. Good luck! Best regards, Húsönd 18:04, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Husond. Much appreciated. By the way, what was the answer in question? -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 14:51, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
