[edit] Beer Clinking

The article is incorrect. The execution of the Martyrs of Arad resulted in a popular oath for Hungarians to never clink their glasses with beer for a 150 years. That period ended in 1999. So younger people do not ignore it, rather many are well aware that the "restriction" has ended.

Since this story is part of the national mythology in Hungary (an urban legend, as nowadays we call it), it doesn't make sense to say if it's correct or not. I also think that this 150 years thing was added later to the legend - some may think it's over, some not, it's up to the person's belief. The slight majority of people (55%) still doesn't clink with their glasses of beer, though; see http://www.urbanlegends.hu/2005/06/17/koccintas-sorrel/ --Kevert 11:14, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Breweries

For reference here is the list of beers from the List of breweries Justinc 14:45, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Borsodi Sörgyár
  • Brau Union Hungária Sörgyárak
    • Martfűi Sörgyár
    • Soproni Sörgyár
  • Dreher Sörgyárak
    • Kőbányai Sörgyár
    • Nagykanizsai Sörgyár
  • Pécsi Sörfőzde

I was the one who added the information on the list of breweries yesterday. I know the above information is accurate, but I'm not sure if it covers all of the major breweries in Hungary. There is very little information (and I can't find a webpage) for the Nagykanizsai Sörgyár. It is a regional brewery, but I'm unsure of who the owners are. It may just be the employees. Anyway, if anyone can find anymore information on breweries, please add it.
Also, is anybody planning on expanding the information on the individual breweries? I have already written something on the Pécsi Sörfőzde that I plan to create a separate page for, once I get to used to using Wikipedia.--Hungarian83 19:49, 2005 Apr 19 (UTC)
Go ahead and create the pages, I will look over them if you like. Its just the list is not very useful (most countries it is very incomplete), I thought it would be more useful here as a reference to create the entries. Justinc 20:27, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I created the Pécs Brewery article. This is my first attempted article, so please make any corrections you feel are necessary. The basic information is essentially from the brewery website, but I wrote everything myself (the site is referenced). I will make a brewbox on the page once I can get a suitable logo image.--Hungarian83 21:29, 2005 Apr 19 (UTC)
Thats really excellent. A added a few extra links, but it is a very good article. Justinc 22:20, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I have created (finally) another Hungarian brewery article: Borsod Brewery. If anyone gets to the other three breweries before me, I think it would be good if the same format was used for all of them. I am planning on making some brew boxes for the two breweries I have done so far (Pécs Brewery and Borsod Brewery). --Hungarian83 22:16, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
