Hunters Association

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hunters Association is a fictional global organization appearing in the Japanese manga and series series Hunter × Hunter. The Hunters Association is responsible for the testing and licensing of Hunters, a term referring to people who have proven their skills through a deadly examination (not to be confused with game hunters).

[edit] The Hunter Exam

The Hunter Exam is held only once per year. Registration for each annual exam concludes on December 31st,[1], with the exam occurring soon after. Due to the huge numbers of people that register for the exam, the Hunters Association hires agents to cut down on the number of registrants that make it to the exam site by weeding out those that show little promise, for example, by guiding a ship carrying registrants through a storm, or by redirecting and ambushing buses carrying registrants. Those that manage to pass by these agents are then challenged to find the exam site itself, as prospective examinees are only given the date, time, and general location of that year's exam.[2] Those that manage to find the exam site in time are given number tags in the order of their arrival.

The Hunter Exam itself is conducted by licensed Hunters, chosen by the ruling Committee of the Hunters Association, that take on the duty for free.[3] The exam actually consists of five or six separate exams, determined ahead of time by the chosen examiners and the Hunters Committee.[4] The exams differ from year to year, though there are usually elements of combat involved. The exams are also frequently deadly, such that fatalities and casualties among the examinees are both common and expected. Finally, there is no guarantee that any examinee will pass the Hunter Exam; years in which no examinees pass are common.

[edit] The Hunter License

Benefits
Being licensed as an official Hunter bestows a number of desirable benefits on the licensee. Because of this, huge numbers of people register for the licensing exam, which is held only once per year, even though fatalities among the exam takers are common, and even expected. The first and foremost is the recognition a license holder can enjoy, being one of the few in the world who owns a license. Hunters are commonly seen at the head of whatever field they pursue, and experienced Hunters are virtually guaranteed lucrative offers of employment from people or organizations seeking the most capable agents possible.

There are also many material benefits to being a licensed Hunter, which include:[5]

  • 1. A 95% discount on all public services (i.e. hotel lodging, food, transport, etc.). Furthermore, all such services are provided at first class.[6]
  • 2. Unrivaled freedom to travel around the world. Access is granted to about 90% of countries which normally restrict the entry of outsiders, and access to 70% of areas that are normally deemed 'forbidden'.[6]
  • 3. Almost no legal responsibility for murder.[7]
  • 4. The ability to sell the Hunter License as a valuable collector's item. Though only the original owner of a Hunter License can take advantage of the normal benefits, it can be still sold for enough money to support them self for at least 7 generations in luxury.[6]
  • 5. The ability to use the license as collateral for a zero-interest loan of 100 million jeni (approximately 90 million yen) at any bank.[8]
  • 6. Access to the secret Hunters Only Website, where secret intelligence about various subjects, uploaded by other Hunters, can be purchased.[9]

Appearance
A Hunter license looks similar to a credit card, but slightly thicker and with an inbuilt computer chip. The front shows the licensee's Hunter rank, while the back has a magnetic strip with a unique serial number that identifies each individual to their license. The card can's magnetic strip also allows it to to be swiped through machines to verify its authenticity and to access special services.

Ranks
Upon passing the Hunter Exam, candidates will receive a standard Hunter License. However, Hunters can be awarded with stars for significant contributions to society.

  • 1 Star - given to hunters who have made a significant contribution to a part of society.
  • 2 Star - given to hunters who have made significant contributions to several fields.
  • 3 Star - given to hunters who have made extraordinary contributions to society over several fields. This is the rarest and most difficult rank to obtain, and is considered a great honor. The number of 3-Star hunters is about 10.

[edit] Types of Hunters

Official Hunters, ones who have passed the Hunter exam, usually choose to align their careers as Hunters along specialized paths. The following list comprises the different types of Hunters that have appeared in the manga. These titles seem to be unofficial, as Hunters only identify themselves to these titles by word, and no part of the Hunter exam was used to specifically determine a candidate's field.

  • Blacklist Hunters - Hunters in this field dedicate their skills to tracking down the most dangerous and wanted criminals. Aspiring Blacklist Hunters often have intentions of justice or revenge.
  • Treasure Hunters- Self explanatory, Hunters in this field scour the world in search of rare and valuable items. Hunters who take this path tend to be the most adventurous, or the most greedy.
  • Culinary/Epicure Hunters - The goal of a Culinary Hunter is to find and collect rare ingredients, then bring their flavours to life by using new and creative styles of cooking. The second test of the Hunter exam, illustrated the creed of the Epicure Hunter. Though never stated explicitly, most Epicure Hunters probably use specialized Nen abilities in their field.
  • Archaeological Hunters - Many Hunters show a love of ancient cultures. Archeological Hunters are dedicated to uncovering ruins and reviving ancient societies. Ging Freecss, Gon's father, is the most famous Archaeological Hunter. Satotsu, the examiner of the first test, revealed to Gon that Ging made unparalleled contributions to this area of study.
  • Wildlife Hunters- Hunters who feel a deep love for nature whose job as a Wildlife Hunter involves the study and preservation of undiscovered animal species.
  • Music Hunters - Definitely catered to the musically talented, they are the ones who have chosen the pursuit of rare musical pieces. Senritsu (Melody) is a Hunter of this category.
  • Contract Hunters - Basically, they find rich people and make deals/contracts with them. Not much is known because they are only briefly mentioned by Leorio.
  • Ghostly Species Hunters- These hunters try to find plants or animals which were supposed to be extinct. Pokkuru stated to Gon that he wanted to become a Ghostly Species Hunter after they got their Hunter Licenses.

[edit] Examiners

Examiners for the 287th[10] annual Hunter Exam, the year the series' main characters took the exam.

[edit] Captain

Not part of the official exam, the unnamed Captain (船長 Senchō?) commands the ship that brings Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika to the mainland where the Hunter Exam was taking place. He was also the first paid agent of the Hunters Association the three would run into while traveling to the exam site. When Gon was able to accurately predict the coming of a large storm, despite never having been at sea before, the captain realized he was the son of Ging Freecss, who had also traveled on the captain's ship many years before.

[edit] Kiriko

A beast that can change its physical appearance. A family of kirokos uses their shapeshifting abilities to pretend to be a human family under attack by kirikos in their natural form, in order to test Gon, Kurapica, and Leorio. The pass, and the kirokos reveal their true purpose - navigators who guide worthy Hunter Exam registrants to the exam site. In the following year, they also guide Killua to the exam site upon learning of his friendship with Gon.

Occupation Archaeological Hunter

Satotsu, known as Satotz in the Viz Media translation, is a seemingly mouthless man, the appointed examiner for the first part of the Hunter Exam. He tests the examinees' stamina by leading them on a marathon of initially unknown length through an underground tunnel. Though he seems only to move his legs at a fast walking pace, the examinees are forced to run faster and faster to keep up with his speed. After they emerge from the tunnel, Satotsu then leads the examinees through the Numere Marsh, nicknamed the "The Swindler's Nest" (詐欺師の塒 Sagishi no Negura?), a swamp filled with deadly man-eating animals, before leaving them at the site of the second exam.

As a Hunter archaeologist in his normal profession, he was also inspired by Ging in taking up the Hunter license. He initially simply felt a strong civic duty to carry out his role as a judge, he progressively takes a liking to Gon and wishes to help him.

[edit] Buhara

One of the second stage examiners during the Hunter exam, along with Menchi. Buhara is an epicurean hunter, and is a hulking figure with a large potbelly and an even larger appetite. Buhara's easy-going nature contrasts with Menchi's highly selective one.

Buhara was the judge in the first round of stage 2. His condition for passing the round was for the candidates to hunt down any wild boar in the nearby forest, and bring it back to him roasted and ready to eat. The only type of wild boar in the forest turned out to be a giant horned boar twice as tall as a human. Even so, more than half of the candidates that made it to the second exam passed.

[edit] Menchi

Occupation Culinary Hunter

One of the two examiners for the second stage of the Hunter exam, along with Buhara. When Menchi is introduced, her most obvious quality is her pickiness but it fits her profession very well, as she is one of the world's best Epicuren hunters. Coupled with Menchi's sensitive and highly selective sense of taste and culinary skills is a physically fit body that enables her to carry out the search of unique foods and culinary experiences, many times in dangerous places. She obtained her Single Star Hunter License at a very young age.

Menchi was one of the two judges that presided over the second stage of the Exam. Her exam topic was to prepare a piece of sushi for her to taste. If it meets up to her stringent expectations the candidate would pass.

However, the test did not quite go as planned, as everyone but Hanzo was baffled as to what sushi actually was. Only Hanzo was from Japan and had any idea what it was. He accidentally spills the information to the rest of the group, though this does not do much good. Each character proceeded to deliver their idea of "sushi" to Menchi, only to have it rejected. And thus none of the candidates passed at first. However Netero later comes and convinces her to give the candidates another chance since the challenge was rather unfair ( mostly due to her stubborn nature, Menchi didn't even taste most of the samples given to her due to their shapes). Thus her test was changed to simply boiling an egg, after retrieving it from the web of a spider eagle, which hung from the walls of a mile deep canyon.

Occupation Blacklist Hunter

The examiner of the third stage, Trick Tower. Rippo wears a pair of red sunshades and punky hairdo. He concocts up many devious ideas, such as the hurricane storm and the number tag stages, that test the candidates in different aspects of group dynamics, both in a communal and individual front. Many candidates are forced to work together to have any chance of passing Rippo's tests.

He is a blacklist hunter with a repertoire with includes the capture of "Master of Autopsies, Jonas", a murderer he uses in the tower. Jonas had more than a hundred kills, all of them torn to dozens of pieces with his bare hands.

[edit] Bendotto

A prisoner used by Rippo in Trick Tower to test the examinees. He faces Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika, and Tompa. Nothing is known about Bendotto. He seems to be just a normal muscled fighter. He fights the first round against Tompa, who gives up immediately after the start signal as a way to sabotage his fellows. He is probably inferior to Killua, because he asks him to fight him, Bendotto refuses.

[edit] Majitani

Another prisoner used by Rippo in Trick Tower to test the examinees. Majitani is a strong-looking criminal who tries to intimidate by claiming to be part of the Genei Ryodan, but he is easily defeated by Kurapika.

He has a Genei Ryodan Spider Tattoo on his back, along with hearts on his chest to show the number of victims he has killed. Kurapika proves that it is a fake; Genei Ryodan members will have their member number engraved onto the spider. He also states that they have killed too many people to keep track of the record.

Majitani becomes the focus of a subsequent confrontation as both sides wager hours in order to conclude the battle in accordance to the rules.

[edit] Lelute

Another prisoner used by Rippo in Trick Tower to test the examinees. Lelute is a former psychologist who reveled in the misery of her clients. She would often intentionally manipulate her clients into committing suicide. During the Trick Tower portion of the Hunter Exam, she faced Leorio's in a non-combat duel, and easily manipulated him into a series of bets that caused his team to lose fifty hours of time.

[edit] Jones the Cutter

Another prisoner used by Rippo in Trick Tower to test the examinees. Jones is allegedly the greatest mass murderer of Zaban. He killed at least 146 people, all with his bare hands, which are powerful enough to pull flesh from bone, and even crush stones.

In Trick Tower, Jones was pitted against Killua in combat, whom he expected would provide the flesh he so loved to tear apart. Instead, Jones has his heart swiftly pulled right out of his chest by Killua, who then crushes it right in front of Jones' eyes. Killua later commented that despite Jones' number of victims, he was still only an amateur killer.

Nen Information
Nen type: Emission
Nen ability: Hyakushiki Kannon

None other than the Chairman of the Hunter Committee, and the final authority over the entirety of the Hunter Exam. In his first appearance Netero makes a free-fall jump from the hunter blimp (flying at a very high altitude) without a parachute, landing square on his feet, without any sign of damage.

He was said to be the strongest Nen user in the world 50 years ago, but he comments that he is already past his prime at his current age and that his subordinates might be stronger than him now (yet his direct subordinates disagree).

Netero is also revealed to be older than Zeno Zaoldyeck (Killua's Grandfather), who is said to be 67 years of age. At one point, Zeno says that when he was still a young boy, Netero was not only already old, but he is the only person alive who has fought with Maha (Zeno's) grandfather. Various stated times would put Netero over the three digit mark.

He is able to use attacks faster than the speed of sound. He also uses the hyakushiki kannon which is also known as the 'Hundred Style of Buddha'. This utilizes nen to make the attacks seem as if they had come from another side and or dimension, simply because they move so fast.

[edit] Maamen

This strange figure (who looks like a talking potato-head) is Netero's secretary and helps to organise a lot of things during hunter exam. Highly factual and exacting in his words, he was the one who gave a presentation on the uses of the Hunter license to the successful candidates of the Exam.

Wing is a Nen trainer whose main student is Zushi. He meets Gon and Killua at the Celestial Tower. Although in the beginning he refuses to train Gon and Killuia, and even lies to them about Nen's purpose, he changes his mind when they reach the 200th floor, as he realizes they could die or be badly injured from nen "initiation". For the next several months he teaches them the basics of Nen, after which he announces they have passed the secret final requirement for being a Hunter.

His teacher was Biscuit Kruger.

[edit] Examinees - 267th Hunter Exam

[edit] Ging Freecss

Gon's father, Ging Freecss, took the Hunter Exam twenty years before his son, at approximately the same age. He was the only one to pass that year.

[edit] Examinees - 287th Hunter Exam

The examinees that took part in the the 287th annual Hunter Exam, the year the series' main characters took the exam.

[edit] Mashu

Profile
Nicknames Rookie Crusher
Age 45
Gender Male

Examinee #16 during the Hunter exam. Tompa (トンパ Tonpa?) is nicknamed the "Rookie Crusher" by other candidates with more experience taking the exam. Tompa has taken the exam for 35 consecutive terms (given that the Hunter exam can only be taken by someone who is at least 12, it means that Tompa either was lying, sneaked in the first two times, or that the age limit is a new rule), but has somehow never managed to pass. He often brags of his experience to those taking the Hunter Exam for the first time and then offers them a helping hand. Of course, this is merely subterfuge as he takes a perverse pleasure in sabotaging their attempts to get the license.

This time around, he trailed Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio while attempting various means to foil their advancement. In order to do this, he used methods like spiking drinks with a strong laxative, feigning fatigue to delay the group's progress, and other nasty tactics. To his chagrin, these had no measurable effect on their progress.

He also attended the second hunter exam (During the Greed Island arc) where he was defeated by Killua.

[edit] Ryu

Examinee #36 during the Hunter Exam. Ryu (リュウ Ryū?) was a crew-cut examinee who made it to the fourth exam, but failed at that stage.

Nen ability: Rainbow (レインボウ 「七色弓箭」)[11]

Examinee #53 during the Hunter Exam. Pokkuru (ポックル Pokkuru?), known as Pokkle in the Viz Media translation, was taking his second attempt to pass the Hunter exam. He is an accomplished archer that carries a bow and shaft of arrows wherever he goes. The arrows are tipped with a potent tranquillizer that even with a small nick, induces paralysis for any person for up to a week. Pokkuru's aim in life is to become a successful wildlife hunter through obtaining the license.

During the discussion that took place after the end of the Exam, Pokkuru had lingering doubts over the way Kurapica had passed the last stage. In fact, he was always wary of Kurapika as he excelled on all aspects of character. After the Hunter Exam, Pokkuru isn't seen again until the Chimera Ant arc, where he's traveling with several hunters and Ponzu. After being defeated by several Chimera Ants, Pokkuru is kidnapped and then brainwashed by Nefelpitou into telling the Chimera Ants about nen. After revealing it to them, Pokkuru is killed and eaten by the Queen.

  • Nen Ability: Rainbow (レインボウ 「七色弓箭」), lit. "Seven Spectrum Array".

Pokkuru's nen ability is called "Rainbow", which is a bow created from nen that can shoot arrows with the seven different colors of the rainbow. Each arrow has its own attribute. Red arrows burst into flames on contact causing the target to catch fire. Orange arrows are the fastest but it is unknown if it has any other effects. He can also shoot them in the form of a slingshot.

[edit] Supa

Examinee #80 during the Hunter Exam. Supa (スパ- Supā?) was an expert sniper fourth exam. There, she attempted to kill her target, Gitarakuru, but was herself killed in retaliation.

He realized the strength of Hisoka and ran, but ended up getting killed immediately after by the dangers of the Swindler's Nest marsh. (The others survived).

[edit] Shishito

Examinee #89 during the Hunter Exam. Shishito (シシトウ Shishitō?) was a thin-eyed examinee who made it to the fourth exam, but failed at that stage.

[edit] Barbon

Examinee #103 during the Hunter Exam. The "Snake Charmer" Barbon (バーボン Baabon?) keeps hundreds of snakes with him, which will attack everyone who attacks Barbon. He keeps on himself an antidote to the snake venoms as a means of manipulating his opponent. During the 4th exam he is accidentally killed by Ponzu's bees when she walks into one of Barbon's traps.

[edit] Kyu

Examinee #105 during the Hunter Exam. Kyu (キュウ Kyū?) was a perpetually red-nosed swordsman who made it to the fourth exam. There, he was the assigned target of Pokkuru, who managed to knock Kyu out by grazing him with a tranquilizer tipped arrow.

[edit] Anita

Examinee #111 during the Hunter Exam. Anita is a character that appears only in the anime version of Hunter x Hunter, and does not exist in the original manga version.

Anita's main goal in entering the Hunter Exam was to attack Killua, as a Zaoldyeck assassin was responsible for her father's death. Anita failed the second exam, but sneaked onto Chairman Netero's blimp as a stowaway in order to attack Killua. Yet, she ultimately realized her mistake when she discovered that her father was actually a prominent drug-trafficker in the black market, who had made many enemies. The assassins were merely doing their job and should not be held responsible for his death. Having this revelation, Anita parted amicably from the Exam.

[edit] Somi

Examinee #118 during the Hunter Exam. With a trained monkey that follows him wherever he goes, Somi (ソミー Somii?) teamed up with Tompa to steal Leorio's number tag at during the fourth exam. However, the tables were turned on the duo when Kurapika intervened and foiled their plot, resulting in their failure at that stage. Even his monkey did the final act of 'betrayal' by sidling up to Kurapika, revealing the hidden location of Leorio's hidden tag.

He also attended the second hunter exam (During the Greed Island arc) where he was defeated by Killua.

[edit] Nichol

Examinee #156 during the Hunter Exam. Nichol (ニコル Nikoru?) is a pudgy yet athletic overachiever with a laptop full of information about the Hunter Exam and his fellow examinees. During the first stage, he runs out of stamina during the run and is the first examinee to be eliminated, at the 80 km mark. Contributing to his failure was his own realization that for once in his life he was not the best, and the Amori Brothers (paid by Tompa) taunting that weakness.

[edit] Bodoro

Examinee #191 during the Hunter exam. An expert at martial arts, Bodoro (ボドロ Bodoro?) is a strict and seemingly stubborn old man with an unspoken rivalry with another martial artist participating in the Hunter Exam. However, this rivalry is tossed aside in the dire circumstances of Rippo's "bonus stage" after the Trick Tower. (This rivalry is only present during the Hunter × Hunter anime).

When interviewed by Netero for the final stage of the Hunter Exam, his personal code of honor prevents him from fight Gon and Killua, who he sees as children, no matter their combat ability. His first battle in the fifth stage of the test is against Hisoka, who he can not even scratch, despite having a lifetime record of not a single man being able to withstand one hit by him. After a whisper in his ear by Hisoka, he admits defeat, and his next fight is against Leorio. However, before the fight can start, Killua suddenly pierces Bodoro's chest from behind, with a razor sharp hand, killing him.

Often wrongly addressed as the "Yamori" ("gecko") brothers to their aggravation, Amori (アモリ Amori?) (#197), Imori (イモリ Imori?) (#198), and Umori (ウモリ Umori?) (#199) are three brothers that have repeatedly taken and failed the Hunter Exam. Much of their success in the Hunter Exam is due to their close-knit cooperation. During stage 4, Killua managed to get hold of the youngest brother, who was stalking him at that time. To save his life, the two older brothers willingly gave up their number tags, failing the exam.

They encounter Gon and Killua again in the Sky Tower where they complain of an "annoying brat". Killua turns around menacingly, asking if they were referring to him. The three of them bolt in fear.

They also attended the second hunter exam (During the Greed Island arc) where they were easily defeated again by Killua, after they see the huge gap between Killua and themselves they decide they will never retake the Hunter exam again, because according to one of them Killua was " A monster beyond the common imagination", and made them see what someone " Born to be one of the best possible Hunters" truly was.

Examinee #246 during the Hunter Exam. Ponzu (ポンズ Ponzu?) is the only prominent female who managed to enter the last few stages of the Hunter exam. Her secret weapon lies in the pink round hat she wears, which carries powerful bees under the surface that emerge and attack people that threaten her. Although Ponzu is a relatively minor character in the series, her cute and girlish charm has won her some fans who voted for her in an early Hunter popularity poll.

During the fourth stage of the Hunter exam her bees kill Barbon when she falls into his trap. She is rescued by Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika, but her tag is taken by Leorio when she is unconscious, and she is therefore not able to continue to the last stage of the Exam.

During the Chimera ants arc she seems to be in NGL with Pokkuru and another group of hunters, after her group encounters Zazan's squad she is the only one able to get away, but only far enough to send a bee with a warning to the strongest hunter nearby, who happens to be Kaito. She is killed moments later by one of Zazan's squad using a pistol.

[edit] Todo

Examinee #255 during the Hunter Exam. Todo (トードー Tōdō?) is a wrestler who wishes to become a Blacklist Hunter. When Menchi fails all of the examinees during her portion of the second exam, he angrily proclaims he cannot accept being failed by an Epicurean Hunter, and prepares to attack Menchi, only to get launched out of the test building with a single swipe from Buhara. Todo also fails Menchi's replacement exam, collecting and boiling spider-eagle eggs, but grudgingly accepts the result. He promised to return the next year to become a Hunter. At that point, Killua, who still needs his Hunter license, defeats all the other examinees, Todo included, in non-fatal combat. Thus, Todo fails in his goal.

[edit] Agon

Examinee #281 during the Hunter Exam. Agon (アゴン Agon?) is a diminutive swordsman with bushy eyebrows and a ponytail. He managed to make it all the way to the fourth exam, but was killed by Hisoka in a blood frenzy. Agon's death served as a distraction that Gon used to steal Hisoka's tag with a fishing pole.

After the first part of the exam, which is a marathon, Hanzo is chatting away happilly, while most of the others are breathless and struggling. In the second test, who features cooking, he is the only one to know what 'sushi' is. He is the third candidate to clear the deadly traps and puzzles of the 'Trick Tower'. When several people are stranded in Rippo's 'bonus stage', Hanzo takes the lead in getting them out.

In the final test of the Hunter Exam, Hanzo is forced to battle Gon. His speed, strength, and battle experience easily exceed that of Gon, however, the only way to pass the final test to is force your opponent to admit defeat, and Gon refuses to do so even after being severely beaten. Hanzo threatens to break Gon's arm if he doesn't admit defeat. Gon does not and Hanzo does break his arm. Noting the lack of hate in Gon's eyes after this act, Hanzo realizes he actually has come to like Gon. He willingly bows out of the battle, giving Gon the victory needed for him to pass the final test.

It is later stated by Wing that Hanzo learned Nen after the Hunter Exam, though he has yet to reappear in the series.

[edit] Gitarakuru

Examinee #301 during the Hunter Exam, Gitarakuru (ギタラクル Gitarakuru?) was a false name and appearance assumed by Illumi Zaoldyeck. He revealed this deception in the final round of the Hunter Exam, much to the shock of his younger brother, Killua.

[edit] Kenmi

Examinee #362 during the Hunter Exam. Kenmi (ケンミ Kenmi?) was a short martial artist who made it to the fourth exam, but failed at that stage.

[edit] Gozu

Examinee #371 during the Hunter Exam. Gozu (ゴズ Gozu?) was a warrior spearman, and the target of Gitarakuru during the fourth exam. Gozu was mortally wounded in combat with the disguised Zaoldyeck, but was permitted to flee in order to seek an honorable death against Hisoka, arguably the strongest fighter among all the examinees. However, Hisoka declined to give Gozu the death he was seeking, as he had "no interest in dead things." In the end, Gozu was still killed by Gitarakuru.

The extermination team was lead by none other than the head of the Committee, Chairman Netero. Netero also handpicked those who were to accompany him, causing significant political bickering within the Committee.

Nen ability: Deep Purple

Morau, known as Morel in the Viz Media translation, is a Hunter who uses a pipe and smoke as his main weapon, and who has a great sense of compassion (his student, Knuckle, comments that his compassionate side is much like his master). The smoke that he uses are for his nen ability. They could take various forms (such as rabbits or soldiers), and could act independently to him once a command (such as scouting or simple attacks) are given to them.

First he transforms his aura into smoke. He uses a bypass, such as him breathing out his transformed aura, instead of the usual use of shouko points, thus enabling him to emit his aura greatly. Mostly, Morau transforms his smoke into various things; such as grass, hose, boat, rabbits, and dolls. The most complex of transformations are his dolls. These nen dolls serve have a core wherein Morau puts a simple manipulation command. He then covers the core with an aura of smoke and molds it into a doll. This doll is what he used against Pitoh's puppets. He can create a maximum of 216 dolls. By sacrificing quantity to gain quality, Morau can compress that amount to 50. These dolls then become more complex than his regular dolls. Most likely his ability is an homage to the song Smoke on the Water by the band with the same name as his Nen ability, Deep Purple

Nen Information
Nen type: Specialization
Nen ability: Hakoware

Morau's disciple, Knuckle Bine is a UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal) Hunter. Despite looking like a fierce, brutal and very aggressive man, deep inside he is a very caring man who is easily moved to tears, and seems to get along well with animals (he has a habit of picking up abandoned dogs and cats).

His nen ability is named "Hakoware". It involves summoning a small flying creature named "Potclean" onto the opponent after a successful hit from Knuckle. The creature would constantly "lend" nen to his opponent (displayed by a counter). During this time, any attacks done to Knuckle by his opponent "return" the lent nen to him, and would lower the counter. Until all lent nen are returned to him, Knuckle could not get damaged. After every ten seconds, the nen that was lent gathers 10% "interest," and accumulates. Once the total nen lent exceeds the total nen of the opponent, the creature lending nen would turn into a demon called "Toritaten" to haunt the victim, and drain all of his nen for 30 days, keeping him in Zetsu status. Knuckle can also track the location of the victim at all times, but Hakoware only accumulates interest when within 100 meters of Knuckle.
