Hunger War

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hunger War was a conflict between the Kingdom of Poland and the Teutonic Knights in 1414.

The Order had been unwilling[citation needed] to take part in negotiations, so King Władysław II Jagiełło decided to invade the lands of the monastic state where the Teutonic Knights have chosen to remain in their castles. The invaders were not able or willing to seek a decisive military victory by lengthy sieges of these castles, and retreated[citation needed] or attacked elsewhere[citation needed].

The papal legate proposed resolving the conflict through diplomacy, and Jagiełło agreed to present his case to the Council of Constance.
