Hungarian passports are issued to Hungarian citizens for international travel by The Central Data Processing, Registration and Election Office of the Hungarian Ministry of the Interior.

[edit] Physical Appearance
As of 29 August 2006, regular Hungarian EU passports are burgundy red in colour (before a mild blue color was in use), with the Hungarian Coat of arms emblazoned in the center of the front cover. The words "útlevél" (English: passport) inscribed below the coat of arms and "Európai Unió" (English: European Union), "Magyar Köztársaság " (English: Republic of Hungary) above. The new biometric Hungarian passport has the standard biometric symbol at the bottom.
The Visa pages have musical notes of the National Hymn visible in UV light.[1]

According to a study done by Henley & Partners, Hungary has a Henley Visa Restrictions Index of 101, which means that Hungarian citizens enjoy visa-free access to 101 countries and territories for short-term tourism visits. Hungary is ranked 19th in the study in terms of international travel freedom.
