Hundred Reasons are a British rock band from Surrey, originally signed to Columbia Records in mid-April 2001 after fourteen months of near-constant touring.
Their debut album Ideas Above Our Station reached number 6 in the UK album chart, spawned several Top 40 singles and has since gone gold in the UK. The band went on to tour extensively throughout Europe and Japan. Despite selling 35,000 copies of second album Shatterproof Is Not A Challenge they were dropped by Sony BMG in June 2004.
Hundred Reasons signed to V2 Records in September 2005. Their third album Kill Your Own, with production duties handled by guitarist Larry Hibbitt, was released on March 20th, 2006, and has so far sold more than 28,000 copies worldwide. The band completed a sold out UK tour in March 2006 and spent the summer playing festivals, including Reading/Leeds, touring Europe and playing in Japan. Their October 2006 tour was postponed due to singer Colin Doran suffering from career-threatening vocal nodes. It was later rescheduled for January 2007.
On August 9th 2006 it was announced on the band's official website that guitarist and vocalist Paul Townsend would be leaving the band following their tour of Japan in early September. The departure was said to be "totally amicable". Ben Doyle of The Lucky Nine has since joined the band as guitarist.
The band's fourth album, entitled Quick the Word, Sharp the Action, was recorded in Riga, Latvia between February and April 2007, and was released on October 15th, also on V2 Records.
The first single lifted from Quick the Word, Sharp The Action was 'No Way Back', which was offered as iTunes' free song of the week during the week of the album's release. The planned B-sides for the single's physical release, 'Punctuality's Greatest Enemy' and 'The Shredder (Astrocharger Mix)' have been offered free of charge from the band's website.
Hundred Reasons embarked on a tour in October 2007 supporting zeitgeist band Enter Shikari in attempt to introduce the band's music to younger fans only familiar with more recent music of the genre. A headline tour taking in the UK, Germany and Benelux has also been announced for January 2008.
