[edit] Manu Chao

I'm not sure where you are, but Manu Chao is making one of his "exceedingly rare" US appearances at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. on August 1, 2006.[1] Maybe they're not so rare after all 8)--Rockero 19:21, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Indeed he is performing in the Bay this year; however, this does not change the fact that his performances in the US are rare. A quick Google of the term "manu chao "rare US" concert" yields over one hundred hits, though most are to Lollapalooza press releases. Still, the last US performance I could find mention of was a handful of dates in Los Angeles in 2000 [4], pretty scarce for an artist who tours so extensively.HumbleGod 19:35, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
I wasn't challenging the claim. I was just excited. I bet the government here discourages him from performing. PAZ, --Rockero 19:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Marc Harrison correction--thanks!

Thanks for correcting the upper case in the title of this article. It was my first article, and I was looking through the help files to find out how to fix the title, when I noticed that you just had. How did you come to be looking at the page, anyway?Richardjames444 19:49, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kiki Carter

Thank you for the feedback on the Kiki Carter page. The whistle blower info is sourced to multiple newspaper articles, but being new to Wiki, am having a heck of a time figuring out the most graceful way to reference to multiple newspaper articles. Footnotes? Any help would be appreciated. Eaglefeather11 01:06, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure it's entirely coincidental that "Repmart" is "Tramper" backwards. User:Zoe|(talk) 02:16, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

keeping it there, seems like it's just rewarding the vandal for their efforts--64.12.117.5 21:38, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

  • It wasn't added by consensus, it was added by the actual vandal who spent about an hour repeat vandalizing the article, before adding it to BJAODN--64.12.117.5 21:44, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 3RR

Thanks for the link to 3RR. I'm fairly certain what I reverted was obvious vandalism, so I think that's an exception to the 3RR rule if I understand it correctly. Anyway, I'm done looking at WikiP for a while, so no worries :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Archer3 (talkcontribs) 19 July 2006

[edit] My bungled AfD of Maths A

Thanks for the reminder! I think I got confused and messed up the steps because (a) it was my first multiple AfD nomination, and (b) I added it to the List of Australia-related deletions, which made me think I had done Step 2! Regards, Canley 09:02, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Israel

is it not a fact that Israel is considered by the UN to be a sovereign nation??? The edit was meant to imply that that the United Nations does not consider the PLOs claim to the whole state of Israel to be valid. Jeff —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.74.70.152 (talkcontribs) 22 July 2006

  • I do not believe that last edit was a pov, it was a fact, Israel is regarded as a sovereign nation by the UN and most of the world. Jeff —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.74.70.152 (talkcontribs) 22 July 2006

[edit] Revert of good anon edit

Hi. My session dropped, and I seem to have been not logged on when I just made a grammar correction in Johnny Cash. I made it with an accurate edit summary: "none" takes a singular verb, which is correct. You reverted me with vandalproof. Please be more careful, I find that most anonymous edits are actually positive contributions, and this one was no exception. Thanks for your consideration. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:36, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, edit summaries are helpful. Anyway, in this case: "none of these friendships was/were about politics", don't we rephrase as "not one of these friendships was about politics", to see how it goes? -GTBacchus(talk) 06:44, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
No hard feelings, I don't doubt your intentions at all. Still, could you explain the rule to me, so I'll know better in the future? I don't understand: ""none" traditionally takes the number of the word in which modifies it. What does that mean, in this case? -GTBacchus(talk) 06:51, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you; I get it now. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:57, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User page edit

Hello, that wasnt no content removal which you guys call vandalism. Me and Pi were having a personal talk. There was no wiki content in that. Was just cleaning up MY user page discussions. I dont think there is anything wrong in that?!! You there? I think the edit should not have been reverted. Whats going on? Kind of a newcomer right now. Thanks. Further, if i registered now, will all my previous posts be converted to my new name??? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.91.203.71 (talkcontribs) 22 July 2006

Hey, that particular message from pi was not a warning, it was a conversation I was having with him. I had a chat with pi about his warning. So, where is the question of misleading anyone about a conversation with pi and that would be a miscontruetion. I dont want to keep that converstation part on discussion, so dont I have the right to edit or delete my user page discussions?? I dont see how that is harming anyone! I would like to keep a clean slate and have already sorted it out with pi. If you want I can add POV to his warning. You mind if I clean up the page? I just like to keep things clear. Do I have the right to revert to the page as you saw it and add pov to pi's warning to make the point?? or maybe you have the right and should revert it back to its state. Thanks. I dont see why anyone should bother about the conversation and I want to clear it?

Are the warnings of you guys totally impersonal and everyone gets them a lot?? 219.91.203.71 21:26, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert to this guy, see my talk for further info. Cheers muchly Khukri (talk . contribs) 23:06, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks Khukri. Since it looks like conversations on that talk page are coming down anyway, I guess I won't bother to respond to him. -- H·G (words/works) 05:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of pop punk bands and List of straight edge groups

I was looking these over and was about to close them as "categorize" when I realized the insane amount of work that would dump on me. Are you willing to take it on? In the future, it would probably be better to boldly create the category and then nominate the list for deletion as redundant... or even just redirect it. Mangojuicetalk 16:28, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I have been trying to get a hold of Mangojuice, but if HumbleGod will respond (if you are working on the Category:Pop punk groups). Basically, i'm suggesting that we keep both the Category and the List of pop punk bands. I wrote some arguements for support on the talk page on the List and in the debate which was closed only after 6 or so votes. Anyway please consider this. Thanks! Xsxex 01:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Advocates for Children in Therapy please review

Mr. Sarner continues to pepper the site with [citation needed] notations when there are adequate references present. I'd appreicate your view on this and your comments to me on my talk page about how best to manage this. I think we will need your intervention on this page as intervention has been necessary by administrators on other pages that Mr. Sarner has been involved with, such as Barrett (from which he is banned or blocked and Bowlby. thank you. Thanks man. It is pretty helpful actually. Good job on starting the Mo' Mega article. I still haveta listen to that album. How is it? Is it worth picking up?--Xxplosive 04:46, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually I was just thinking about doing one for Quannum too. You can use the same template format too. I think I'll make another one for a different label or something.

And thanks for the Lif tips. I heard the song "Storm" with Lif and Edan on the Cut Chemist album. That's a seriously tight song. Which other artists are you into?--Xxplosive 06:44, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Damn you're seriously into a lot of music hahah. I'm not as broad as you are in terms of music, but I also like listening to underground rap. I'm not really into rock though, but that song "Twisted Transistor" by Korn gets my blood pumping. Ridiculously good song. I love funk music though. I watched Undercover Brother and I really like the soundtrack, so i started to dig into funk music. How's that Quannum template coming along? I just kinda got into doing stuff on wikipedia. I need something to do during my summer lol. --Xxplosive 03:50, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Props on that Quannum template. I think more of those kind of templates should be made. Good job man. --Xxplosive 04:54, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] vandalism of Changes/warnings on L0b0t's user page

Please leave my user page alone. It is not your place to decide what I do or don't have on my user page. Please confine your edits to articles and leave me alone. Thank you. L0b0t 13:34, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Not only did you place content I've already archived on there but you deleted some info I wanted to keep.L0b0t 13:35, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
It's good form to provide links to such archives on your talk pages. It is certainly not my place to decide what goes on someone's talk page, but Wikipedia policy is pretty clear on this: removal of warnings from one's own talk page is considered vandalism. Please refer to WP:VAND. -- H·G (words/works) 19:11, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
What warning are you talking about? You are correct it is not your place to edit someone's user page. Kindly leave my page alone.L0b0t 19:17, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
There are warnings on WP:CIVIL, WP:OR, and WP:3RR, to say nothing of the {{wr0}} warning I placed advising you to not remove material from your Talk page. This is pretty unambiguous. I have not, nor will I, decide what is appropriate for your Talk page; Wikipedia guidelines make the decision themselves. -- H·G (words/works) 19:20, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Expansion of Roy Moore article

I've been working on an expansion of the article on Roy Moore for about a week. At the moment it can be seen in my user talkspace. Please feel free to raise objections or suggest changes/additions to the draft in this space. However, as the draft is still in my user talkspace, please do not alter it at this time. Thanks! -- H·G (words/works) 03:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

  • The draft looks like a very solid article with much more on his judicial career which is, of course, his claim to notability. Good work. A fewminor points which have bothered me: First, both the existing article and this version label the links as "pro" and "anti". I think it would be worthwhile trying a version without subcategories for "pro" and "anti". Links to the Foundation for Moral Law and to his campaign site are self-explanatory. If the opinion pieces are notable enough for inclusion as WP:External links, those opinions could surely be introduced in the text and linked as references. Second, your section on "campaign and election" quotes Moore without citation. It appears that your account of the campaign could be expanded, especially since Rove's participation brings wider interest. (also, you left the "t" out of "significantly"). Third and last, the section on Homosexuality and child custody should probably be renamed, as it may be misleading in the context of a biography. Though I know it is not your intent to mislead, perhaps using the name of the case would be more neutral. I think the section would read better if it began with the sentence "Chief Justice Moore issued an opinion in a 2002 child custody case which expressed his belief that the State should rightfully use its powers to punish homosexual behavior."... The style of introducing a separate thread that only later ties into the story is characteristic of a chapter in a book, not a section in an encyclopedia.
With or without these suggested changes, your improvements have my support. --Dystopos 06:11, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Moore gov.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Moore gov.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:08, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Apsci.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Apsci.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:44, 13 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 09:44, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Supremelyricism.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Supremelyricism.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Chiefxcel.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Chiefxcel.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:08, 6 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rossrs (talk) 12:08, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Moore_campaign2.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Moore_campaign2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 14:28, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
