[edit] Rotate, please
Could someone rotate this diagram so that time runs upwards? It is common in geological diagrams and evolutionary trees for time to run up the page: this makes two useful analogies work better: (1) higher stratigraphic layers are higher on the page; and (2) the evolutionary tree resembles a real tree, with the root at the bottom. - The main disadvantage would be that it would be larger and take up more space in the article. —Mike 04:06, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Well, you could squash the time axis more if it runs up the page, because names don't take up so much time (so to speak). Gdr 11:18, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Gdr that this diagram should be rotated. Notice that the diagram, as it is, is too wide and does not fit in an 800x600 resolution, necessitating horizontal scrolling. —Lowellian (reply) 16:36, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Help
First I would like to thank the editors that made this timechart, it is beyond my ability. I felt it is to small and created a second one here: Human evolution/Species chart large. Can we make this one the full width of the Wikipedia article and adjust the bars and text appropriately. It would be nice if we could increase the text size. Thank you. - Your chart is too large. As a general rule, images (and charts) shouldn't be larger than 600px wide in the article. —Mike 04:49, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Discussion at Talk:Human evolution
There is some discussion about this chart happening over yonder. Figma 05:13, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] error
There is an error in the chart. It shows Erectus's bar ending a few mms BEFORE Sapiens' starts. It now says Heildelbergensis and Erectus died out several thousand years before before Sapiens & Neanderthailus existed showing that Sapiens and Neanderthailus are not decended from them... please fix it if you are familiar with this kind of coeding.OsirisV 19:01, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Explanation of exponential notation, "Ma" added
to explain what the shorthand numbers on the chart are supposed to stand for. 204.52.215.107 05:02, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
