Talk:Human Face Fish

[edit] Name
The name "Human Face Fish" isn't exactly correct, but I chose what is the most common name given to the fish on the internet. The article could be moved to a new, scientific name, once that is applied. — EliasAlucard|Talk 15:34 23 Jul, 2007 (UTC)
[edit] It's not a "new fish"
It's just a koi carp with an unusual marking on its head. Utterly non-notable, unless we're keeping articles about sheep with two heads and dogs that can say "sausages". Neale Monks 09:33, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- I still think it's very notable. It's not every day we see a fish that resembles humans. Besides, who knows where this could develop into? Perhaps it gives the theory of evolution a good point? — EliasAlucard|Talk 18:18 23 Jul, 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I've tried to clean up the science. Two different news outlets are reporting it as different things. A cross between two variety of carp seems most probably. The hybridisation of two fishes as distantly related as carp and ayu seems very unlikely. Not impossible for all I know, but it would be about as remarkable (and probable) as a cross between, say, a dog and a sheep. Cheers, Neale Neale Monks 16:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh okay. Well, thanks for all the help. Is there anything more available on this, on scientific fish sites? — EliasAlucard|Talk 20:11 23 Jul, 2007 (UTC)

[edit] isn't the Human Fish the Olm?
I was redirected from Human Fish from here - this is the Human Face FIsh, not the Olm - a distinction, surely?
