Humans United Against Robots (often abbreviated as HUAR) is a tongue-in-cheek organization designed to unify the human race and prepare them for a futuristic robotic uprising. HUAR was created by Keith Malley of the popular Keith and The Girl podcast.

[edit] Mission Statement

HUAR – Humans United Against Robots – was designed to educate and awaken the citizenry of the world to the impending attack that computers and robots will put into effect against humans. HUAR is the collection of human beings that spread the word of this impending doom as well as doing what they can to help minimize the threat. Between computer programs that can identify human speech and match that up with their computerized dictionaries in order to understand our weaknesses to jokester scientists building robots specifically made to breathe fire from their mouths and shoot lasers from their eyes, it is evident that a task force had to be formed of members that take being at the top of the food chain seriously.

Robots will uprise. HUAR will be there.

[edit] Phases

Members of the organization claim that in order to prevent the impending robotic tyranny, a number of stages must be followed.

[edit] Stage 1 - Awareness

"Awareness" was the initial stage of defence announced in the summer of 2005. The main two components were informing the general public of the threat of robots, and performing surveillance on mechanics and scientists who may assist robots in their mission. In pursuit of these goals, the following steps were taken:

  • On November 28 2005, Keith interviewed Daniel Wilson, author of the book How to Survive a Robot Uprising.
  • The "HUAR! Command Center" forum was opened to catalogue ways our technologies might soon overthrow their organic creators.

[edit] Stage 2 - Preparation

"Preparation" was officially announced on 11 May 2007. Skills required for this stage are:

  • Know where the screws are in all major electronics.
  • General knowledge of how robots work is not required; just how to take them apart.

Further, the following must be at the ready at all times:

Addendum:

On Wednesday May 30th, 2007 Brandon, a Senior Engineering Specialist recommended (and Keith has approved) the inclusion of the following items in the HUAR preparedness kit:

  • Slotted & Philips Terminal (small) Screwdriver
  • Wire Cutter (6 in side cut pliers, or ‘dike’ is recommended)
  • Voltmeter
