Animals help humans in many ways.
[edit] Animals help pollinate plants
Many animals help pollinating plants. For example, flies, honeybees, butterflies, moths collect nectar and even pollinate from the flower. Humming birds also drink nectar as food.
[edit] Animals help fertilize soils
Oxen help to plough the field; even horses, donkeys, mules sometimes help the farmers. The excretion of earthworms is very rich in nutrients and is very good for growth of plants. Their movement fills the soil with air which is good for the roots of the plants.
[edit] Animals are part of the food chain and keep ecosystems in balance
Animals occupy the food chain, The Producers are pants; The Primary Consumers are insects; The Secondary Consumers are chicken; The Tertiary Consumers are humans; The Final Consumers are scavengers like vultures.
[edit] Animals serve as companion animals, helping reduce depression, loneliness
People can be lonely, so many people keep pets like dogs, cats, birds etc. so that they can be companions to them and the lonely person can share his loneliness and depression with the animals. Animals serve as therapeutic animals in hospitals, nursing homes
[edit] Some animals work for humans
Some animals are working animals - herding dogs, sled dogs, horses, mules, cows (Pulling carts), explosive, bomb or drug sniffing dogs, scent tracking dogs, seals and dolphins trained by the Navy for security, Search and Rescue dogs, elephants (transportation and moving objects)
[edit] Animals provide us with materials
Fur, hides, leather, ivory, sinew, bone, which we can make into housing (teepee, yurts), clothing, tools, etc...
[edit] Animals can be beneficial in controlling harmful animals and plants
Weed eating goat herds, ladybugs eating aphids, etc... Snakes keep down rodent and insect populations that can carry diseases harmful to humans.
[edit] Animals can protect humans and other animals
Animals protect humans, like guard dogs. Sheep dogs protect herds from wolves, foxes, wild cats etc. Even sometimes Llamas and Alpacas guard sheep. Dogs, cats etc. sensed earthquakes, fires, tsunamis, cyclones, thunderstorms and saved their masters not only in some cases but hundreds and thousands of the same type of cases. Canaries were used to warn miners of deadly gas.
[edit] Animals help create medicine
Horses help create snake anti-venom.
