I know this isn't really to do with this page, but it is fairly relevant, so bear with me! Any ideas why the Adam Pearson article was deleted yesterday? Managed to find the deletion log, though there isn't any (legit) reason given. Thanks, TomiG 18:08, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

The current article states: "Chairman Adam Pearson has stated his ambition to take Hull into the top flight for the first time in their history - and he believes Phil Parkinson is the manager to do it." Firstly, where's the reference point for the quote? Secondly, with Hull sat at the bottom of the Championship, it would be good to reference this now - Rgds, - Trident13 19:03, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Born in the USA to English parents, he grew up in England. So what nationality is he and which flag should go against his name? I think English, as I think he would only play for England - I know he's already turned down the opportunity to play for Wales. Thoughts? Beve 11:36, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Notable former players

I trimmed this list down a bit, for the following reasons:

  • I think it should be by nature be quite a brief list - the 'cream'.
  • I didn't feel that certain players were hugely notable - either for Hull City or in their own right. My feeling is that the list should comprise players who either are considered 'City legends' or who achieved at the highest level, before or after their City career.
  • If the player's Wikipedia entry was only a stub.

Apologies to the editor who put so much work into this. It's always going to be a subjective issue as to who is 'notable' and who isn't. I won't get into any edit wars on this; hopefully any disagreements can be sorted out on the talk page by getting a consensus view.
There are also quite a few City Legends who don't yet have a Wikipedia entry - for example Billy Bly, Ken Wagstaff, Chris Chilton and Tony Norman.

A lot of the players I added (like Clint Marcelle for example) were added because they have appeared Internationally for their country, that in itself makes a player notable.
Others such as Peter Barnes (footballer) has won PFA Young Player of the Year (as did Steve Moran) in his history as well as playing for Manchester United. David Brown (footballer) player over a 100 games for Hull City. John Downie is a notable player because he made over 100 appearences for Manchester United. Sam Weaver has been capped by the England national side...
These things assert the players notability. Of course they may not have been as great at City as elsewhere, but for extample Thierry Henry is mentioned as a notable former player at Juventus, as is David Beckham at Preston North End.
I'd have no problem if the people who were legends at City (who you mentioned) were added alongside these too. - Deathrocker 16:07, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm. Apparently, there were 16 parallel divisions during the Third Reich and Bonn had two clubs in 'their' regional divison. Xmth 13:01, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Is the attendance of 86,703 at Wembly the largest crowd that Hull City have ever played in front of? I think that it may be. LewisR (talk) 23:42, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Must be - it was the first time they'd ever played there, and Wembley has the largest capacity of any football ground in Britain! Digifiend (talk) 13:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I have passed the article, as I think it meets all the criteria, and is of a comparable standard to other sports team GAs. However, here are some ideas to improve the article further:

  • Running through the article with a fine-toothed comb to improve the prose quality. Some useful advice for doing this is given at User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.
  • Remove extra links for articles which are linked multiple times e.g. Manchester United is linked four times. Similarly, ensure all football club links are piped to remove the F.C. or A.F.C. from view.Y Done
  • While not directly concerning this article, Hull City A.F.C. Reserves and Hull City A.F.C. Juniors could be merged; both articles are stubs and there is some repetition.Y Done
  • The picture of Boothferry Park could be better (assuming the ground is still standing) - trees and bushes make up more of the image than the stadium.Y Done
  • The record league finish could be mentioned at the relevant point in the history section. Oldelpaso 17:49, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
