Hull Sinfonietta

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hull Sinfonietta is one of the major forces changing Hull's cultural dynamic. The organisation is recognised and supported by Hull City Council, Arts Council England (Yorkshire), the PRS Foundation for New Music and University of Hull.

It is a large professional chamber ensemble formed by musicians from Humberside, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. Since its launch in November 2004, most of its work has been directed towards providing a platform for composers in the North and East of England, as well as presenting rarely-performed works of significant historical interest.

It was founded by its Managing and Artistic Director Dr Lee Tsang, a music lecturer at the University of Hull.
